Drinne is the fourth regular studio album by B-Tight . In contrast to his earlier releases, this is an album that is to be settled in alternative rock or alternative metal . It was created with the help of the alternative rock band Emil Bulls and was released on September 28, 2012 via Raid Records (distributed by Groove Attack ).

History of origin

After Goldstander, B-Tight had recorded another album in the usual hip-hop style, but then discarded it because the music seemed too unoriginal to him. He met Christoph von Freydorf from the Emil Bulls through a mutual friend. The latter sent him a rocky beat that B-Tight rapped about. Since this experiment had worked, B-Tight flew to Munich and together they recorded several tracks. B-Tight also went on tour with Freydorf's band. The collaboration then expanded to an entire album. In addition to von Freydorf, Bonny G. Assan and René Lipps also contributed to the rocky note. Five songs on this album were composed and recorded by the latter two.

The individual songs were created according to the following pattern: Freydorf usually played the first version as a playback and then sent it to B-Tight. Together in the studio they programmed a song on the computer and added the rap from B-Tight. Only when the song was finished was it recorded with real instruments in the studio. Freydorf himself and Fabian Mallmann from the Blue Man Group played as guitarists . James Richardson from the Emil Bulls and Bonny G. Assan took over the bass, and the drummer was Klaus Kössinger from the Emil Bulls. Beathoavenz producer DJ Perez did the scratches . While the basic structure was recorded in Freydorf's private studio, the drums were recorded in the space studio in Munich.

Features

Sido and Harris are featured as feature guests under the project name “Your Favorite Rockers”, based on their joint project Your Favorite Rappers on the title Mary Jane , a marijuana homage. The rapper Shizoe is featured with three guest posts on Hawaii , Boobs Mouse and Nightmare . Other features are Shrödaz ( foam party ) and Metrickz ( Fame ).

Music genre

The music style of the album can basically be compared to the crossover of the 1990s. In a juice interview, von Freydorf also mentions the Judgment Night soundtrack as inspiration. In his opinion, this genre of music has wrongly received a negative stamp and so he saw the album as an opportunity to “create his own Judgment Night”. B-Tight's lyrics are much more moderate compared to his partly indexed earlier albums. On the one hand, he didn't want to record another index album; on the other hand, it was important to him to approach his new project with a different approach and not to rap “always the same snot”.

Publications

The album appeared in several versions. A normal edition contains the 13 tracks on the album, while a premium edition was released as a double CD containing six additional songs. A limited edition also contained a t-shirt, an autograph card and a poster. The album can also be purchased as a download .

review

The Rappers.in starts its review with the words of B-Tight: “I don't feel like 'normal' chant anymore, that's why I now rap on rockbeats, that's more creative.” As a result, the author asked himself whether this was original was and she answered no. However, he continued: “As little innovative as that may be, the concept just works and some of the songs on the inside also go forward.” He therefore concludes that B-Tight takes a long time Time again managed to convey the fun of music to the listener. Musically, it would have for the author to complete album length more poppier towards rock like when I come and Tittenmaus may go.

The author of Metalglory.de writes that he has nothing to do with hip-hop and rap. From a purely instrumental point of view, however, Drinne offers enough material to be lumped together with bands like Limp Bizkit or Linkin Park . If you could also do something with hip-hop and rap, you would get your money's worth. He sums it up: "You may think what you want from stoner texts, (cheap) sex pick-up lines or certain wisdom in songs, but in connection with these heavy guitars as well as cool rock drums and thus the mix of Nu Metal-Rap / Rock, (industrial) samples and alternative rock, it literally sweeps you away. "

Oliver Paßgang from powermetal.de rates the album rather negatively: “Anyone who likes German Hip Hop will find better and more intelligent rappers or, in the other extreme, much funnier, tough representatives. If you like the Emil Bulls' alternative metal mix, you should pick one of their many good records. You can let the party numbers run on a sociable evening, the rest should, contrary to the [sic!] Album title, be left "outside". "
