Sage the Gemini (born June 20, 1992 in San Francisco , California ; real name: Dominic Wynn Woods ) is an American rapper .

Life

Dominic Woods was born in San Francisco and moved to Fairfield with his family when he was six or seven . At the age of eleven, Sage the Gemini recorded his own songs with his brother. He posted his songs on a MySpace page and reached seven-digit hits there. He left school at 14 and joined a group called the Tree Boys with a cousin .

At 18 he became a member of the HBK Gang ( Heartbreak Gang ) of Richmond rapper Iamsu! . He not only produced his own pieces and pieces for the gang, but also worked for the R&B singer Omarion .

In 2012 he started his own career with the song Gas Pedal . Even without label support and without a real video, but with a well-maintained presence in social media , it had over three million views on YouTube this year . The following year he signed a record deal with Universal / Republic Records and released the Gas Pedal EP in August 2013 , which included the title song, among other things, Red Nose . Both pieces were very successful at the same time, placed in the middle of the US single charts and lasted for several months. On YouTube, views for the two official videos surged over 45 million. Gas Pedal achieved double platinum , red nose platinum status.

In March 2014, Sage the Gemini followed up with his debut album Remember Me . It entered the top 50 of the official album sales charts and reached number 5 on rap albums. He is assigned to the hyphy music ("hyperactive" music) of the San Francisco Bay Area and his style can be classified as "West Coast party-oriented hip hop".

His rap name Sage the Gemini is made up of his eye color gray-green like sage (English sage ) and his zodiac sign Gemini (English gemini ).
