The Scottish League Challenge Cup was played for the 17th time in 2007/08 . The Scottish football competition, which was officially held as the Challenge Cup , began on August 14, 2007 and ended with the final on November 25, 2007 at Dens Park in Dundee . The defending champion Ross County was eliminated from the competition against the eventual winner, FC St. Johnstone . For the club from Perth who defeated Dunfermline Athletic in the final it was the first success in the Challenge Cup. The clubs of the Scottish Football League took part in the competition.
