Paul Gallacher (born August 16, 1979 in Deaconsbank , Glasgow ) is a Scottish football goalkeeper .

Career

Paul Gallacher was born in August 1979 in the Deaconsbank district of Glasgow . He began his career 11 km west of his hometown at Gleniffer Thistle in Paisley . In August 1995, Gallacher moved to Dundee United's Youth Academy . Until 1997 he played in the youth of the club. In the 1999/2000 season he made his debut for United in the league game against FC St. Johnstone . He was previously loaned from November 1999 to January 2000 to the Scottish second division side Airdrieonians FC , for which he played nine games. From the 2001/02 season he was a regular goalkeeper in Dundee for three years . In July 2004 Gallacher left Dundee after 121 first division games on a free transfer and moved to Norwich City in England. The Canaries had previously been promoted to the 1st division. Gallacher was initially third goalkeeper behind Darren Ward and Robert Green . Later in the season he was awarded to Gillingham FC and Sheffield Wednesday . After his return in June 2005, he completed 31 second division games for Norwich by the end of the 2006/07 season . In August 2007 the English awarded him to Dunfermline Athletic for half a year . In January 2008 he was firmly committed to the club. As a regular goalkeeper, he left the club a year later and moved to FC St. Mirren from Paisley. After playing times, I switched back to the Pars . After another transfer to Ross County in which he was used behind Michael Fraser and Mark Brown only once, he moved to Partick Thistle in Glasgow. In June 2016, the 37-year-old signed a contract as a playing goalkeeping coach with Heart of Midlothian .

National team

Paul Gallacher played eight times in the Scottish senior team from 2002 to 2004 , having previously played twelve times in the U-21s . He made his debut in the A-Elf on May 23, 2002 under coach Berti Vogts at the Reunification Cup against Hong Kong . His last international match was against Estonia in Tallinn in May 2004 . After national coach Vogts announced his resignation in November 2004, Gallacher was no longer appointed to the squad by his successor Walter Smith .
