Souleymane "Sol" Bamba (born January 13, 1985 in Ivry-sur-Seine , France ) is an Ivorian - French football player .

Career

Bamba was trained in football at the Center de pre-formation de Verneuil until 2000 , before moving to the youth department of Paris Saint-Germain . From 2002 he played in the reserve team of the club, in the professional team of PSG the defender came only to a two-minute short assignment on the 16th match day of the 2004/05 season. In January 2006 he left the French capital club, but only found a new employer in the summer of the same year with the Scottish club Dunfermline Athletic . With Dunfermline he finished last in the 2006/07 season in the Scottish Premier League and was relegated to the Scottish First Division . Meanwhile, they reached the final in the national cup , in which they were defeated by Celtic Glasgow 1-0, but still qualified for the 2007/08 UEFA Cup qualification . There they failed at the Swedish club BK Häcken . In 2008 he moved to Hibernian Edinburgh within the Scottish League .

In January 2011 Sven-Göran signed Eriksson Bamba for the English Football League Championship participant Leicester City , which he trained .

In the summer of 2012, his move to the Turkish first division side Trabzonspor was announced. In summer 2014, by mutual agreement, he terminated his contract with Trabzonspor and switched to US Palermo a few days after this contract termination .

Palermo loaned Bamba in January 2015 to the English club Leeds United , which signed him after the loan expired.

National team

In 2003 he took part in the Junior World Cup in the United Arab Emirates with the Ivory Coast U-20 national team. Bamba was a central defender in the regular formation in the first two games, but was then put on the bench and was not used until the end of the round of 16. In 2005 he took part in the African Youth Championship with the U-21s , but was eliminated in the preliminary round. In July 2008, coach Gérard Gili appointed Bamba to the squad for the Olympic soccer tournament in China. Bamba was appointed to the Ivorian squad for the World Cup in South Africa ; he was not used. Four years later, at the 2014 World Cup , he was back in the squad, this time as a regular.
