Leandro Jones Johan Bacuna (born August 21, 1991 in Groningen , Netherlands ) is a Dutch football player who has been under contract with the English club Cardiff City since January 2019 .

Career

Bacuna joined the youth team of the honorary division club FC Groningen at the age of twelve , playing in midfield or as a striker . As an A-youth he made his debut on October 28, 2009 in the professional team of coach Ron Jans . In the cup match in Arnhem against Vitesse he slipped into the team for Danny Holla and prepared the opening goal after just three minutes with a one-two with Koen van de Laak ; a little later, on the basis of Thomas Enevoldsen , he also scored his first goal in the senior division with the 2-0 in the 5-1 victory of FCG. His league debut followed two days later when he came on for van de Laak in the 2-0 defeat by PSV with a quarter of an hour to go.

Mostly as a substitute, he was able to book another 19 missions during the season, primarily in the middle of the Groningen midfield. In the 2010/11 season he developed his position under the coach Pieter Huistra and used his opportunity especially at the end of the season after some regular players were injured. He was ultimately used in 24 league games. At the beginning of the 2011/12 season he slipped to the detriment of Thomas Enevoldsen on the right offensive midfield position and drew attention to himself with three goals in the first three league games. After 109 league games with 14 goals for Groningen, Bacuna moved to Aston Villa for the 2013/14 season .
