Danny Holla (born December 31, 1987 in Almere , Flevoland ) is a Dutch football player. The midfielder has been under contract with FC Den Bosch since the 2018/19 season .
Career
Holla's career began in the youth of FC Groningen , where he has been in the first team since 2005. He made his competitive debut as a professional in his second season in the KNVB Cup against TOP Oss on September 20, 2006; shortly before the end of the game he was substituted on for Mark Jan Fledderus . Another cup appearance followed and on November 19, 2006 he came in the 4-1 victory over Willem II from Tilburg for his first appearance in the Eredivisie. He played five more games before the winter break, but did not get a chance in the second half of the season, except in two playoff games for the Europa League participation with coach Ron Jans .
For the 2007/08 season Holla was loaned to the second division club FC Zwolle , where he succeeded as a regular player until the end of January. After the winter break, he returned to Groningen in order to to Amsterdam for AFC Ajax migrated Rasmus Lindgren to replace. But it was only in the following season that he managed to establish himself as a firm force in midfield, so that his contract was extended in April 2009 to 2013.
On March 11, 2010, Holla broke his leg and overstretched the ankle ligaments during training. The injuries put him out of action for more than half a year, and it wasn't until October 23, 2010 that he ran again in the Eredivisie.
After Holla had primarily assumed the role of substitute player at FCG in the first half of the 2011/12 season , he was awarded in January 2012 to the league competitor VVV-Venlo, who was in the relegation battle . With the North Limburgers he hoped for more time than last in Groningen. This succeeded and Holla contributed with two goals in 16 games and above all with four goals in the four playoffs to keep the Venloers relegated.
For the 2012/13 season Holla moved to league competitor ADO Den Haag. Coach Maurice Steijn named the 24-year-old team captain at the start of the season . At ADO he impressed not only as a midfield director, but also as a sure goal scorer; In the first 14 games of the season he scored seven goals, four of them from penalties and two from direct free kicks.
In August 2014 Holla moved to the English second division club Brighton & Hove Albion .
