The Scottish League Challenge Cup was played for the 16th time in 2006/07 . The Scottish football competition, officially known as Bell's Challenge Cup was held, began on 15 August 2006 and ended with the final on 12 November 2006 at the McDiarmid Park of Perth . The defending champion, FC St. Mirren , could not repeat its success from last year's final (due to the lack of eligibility due to promotion to the Premier League ). This year Ross County won the competition against FC Clyde on penalties . The clubs of the Scottish Football League took part in the competition.
