The Scottish League Challenge Cup was played for the 23rd time in 2013/14 . The Scottish football competition, which officially Ramsden's Challenge Cup was held, started with two qualifying matches on 13 and 20 July 2013 between the two winners of the last Highland Football League the FC Spartans and Threave Rovers . The final took place on April 6, 2014 at the stadium on Easter Road in Edinburgh . The clubs of the Scottish Football League and the two clubs from the Highland Football League took part in the competition. As defending champion, Queen of the South started the last year's final against Partick Thistle on penalties . In this year's final, the Raith Rovers beat the favored Glasgow Rangers 1-0 after extra time . It was the first ever title in the Challenge Cup for the team from the port city of Kirkcaldy . Most recently, the Rovers were able to win the league cup in the 1994/95 season.
