The FC Spartans (officially: The Spartans Football Club ) is a football club from the Scottish capital Edinburgh . The women's team plays in the Scottish Women's Premier League .
Club history
FC Spartans was founded in the summer of 1951 by two former University of Edinburgh students Elliot Wardlaw and Jimmy Beaumont, who joined the East of Scotland Football League that same year . The City Park served as the first venue . In the early days of the club, only current or former students from the University of Edinburgh were allowed to play at FC Spartans. In 1976 he was officially inducted into the Scottish Football Association . In the 1978/79 season, the club was able to qualify for the Scottish FA Cup for the first time . In the 2013/14 season Spartans was able to win the championship in the newly formed Lowland Football League , previously he had been champion nine times in the East of Scotland Football League.
