Position in the Scottish League system

In contrast to the four higher-class Scottish professional leagues, the Lowland Football League consists of teams with semi-professional players. A promotion to the fourth-class professional league Scottish League Two is possible via a two-stage relegation. In the first round, the first of the Lowland Football League and the Highland Football League play against each other. In the second round, a promoted, relegated or league remaining will be determined between the winner of this qualification and the last one in Scottish League Two . So far, only Edinburgh City has been promoted after the 2015/16 season.

Below the Lowland Football League , the sixth class East of Scotland Football League and South of Scotland Football League play in parallel , whose champions play a promotion relegation at the end of the season with the bottom of the Lowland Football League . There are no leagues below this in the Scottish professional league system.
