Fraser Aird (born February 2, 1995 in Toronto ) is a Canadian soccer player .

Career

Fraser Aird was born in Toronto to Scottish parents who immigrated to Canada in the 1980s . He grew up in the easternmost borough of the metropolis, in Scarborough . Both his father and grandfather had a season ticket with the Glasgow Rangers . At the age of 16, he signed a contract with the Rangers . After he knew how to convince in the U-17 and U-19 team of Glasgow, the then 17-year-old Aird made his debut in September 2012 for the only fourth-rate Rangers in the game against FC Montrose . After his professional debut on match day 6, he scored his first professional goal for Ally McCoist's team on match day 17 against FC Queen's Park . By the end of the season Aird had played 19 league games and scored three times in the opposing goal. Together with players such as Neil Alexander , Anestis Argyriou , Carlos Bocanegra , Emílson Sánchez Cribari , David Templeton , Barrie McKay , Lee Wallace , Andrew Little , Lee McCulloch , Dean Shiels and Kyle Hutton , he celebrated promotion to the Scottish third division. In the following 2013/14 season , another promotion to the second division followed, Aird was involved with 27 missions and five goals. In the 2014/15 and 2015/16 seasons , Aird only played 16 league games in the Scottish Championship . In January 2016 it was awarded to the Canadian club Vancouver Whitecaps for the entire 2016 season. The club played 18 major league soccer games before Aird returned to Rangers in January 2017 . In the same month Aird moved to the Scottish second division club FC Falkirk .

National team

The native Canadian played at least once for the Canada U-15s before joining the Scottish U-17 and U-19 juniors between 2011 and 2014 . In October 2015 Aird made his debut for the Canadian senior team against Ghana . Along with Junior Hoilett , Wandrille Lefèvre , Kianz Froese , Charlie Trafford and Macros Bustos, he was one of six debutants.
