The cup competition, which was officially held as the Ramsdens Challenge Cup , began on July 23, 2011 and ended with the final on April 1, 2012. The clubs of the Scottish Football League and two clubs from the Highland Football League took part in the competition. The FC Falkirk won the title for the fourth time in the club's history.
