Michael McGovern (born July 12, 1984 in Enniskillen ) is a Northern Irish football goalkeeper .

Career

society

McGovern started his career at Celtic Glasgow in 2004 . From January 2005 to May 2005 he was loaned to FC Stranraer . In 2006 he was loaned out again, this time to FC St. Johnstone . After the loan deal was over, he returned to the "the bhoys" and played there from January 2007 to July 2008. In July 2008 he left Celtic Glasgow and moved to Dundee United . There he played for two years and then moved to Ross County . In the summer of 2011 he moved to FC Falkirk and played there for three years. He has been with Hamilton Academical since 2014 . Towards the end of the 2014/15 season, he became team captain there.

National team

McGovern is Northern Ireland international . His first international match, which Northern Ireland lost 1-0, he played on May 30, 2010 against the Chilean national football team . After that, he was not nominated again until 2012 and rose to number 2 in the Northern Irish gate in 2013. But it wasn't until March 2015 that he played his second international match. Halfway through qualifying for the 2016 European Football Championship in France, he then replaced Roy Carroll in goal and was included as number 1 in Northern Ireland 's EM squad . He played all four of the team's games until he was eliminated in the second round as a regular goalkeeper.
