Lukas Rupp (born January 8, 1991 in Heidelberg ) is a German soccer player . The midfielder is under contract with Norwich City in England and has played seven times for the German U20 national team .

Career

The son of handball player Franz Rupp, a former Bundesliga player of SG Leutershausen , graduated from the Dietrich Bonhoeffer School in Weinheim and played for various youth teams at TSG Weinheim and Karlsruher SC . At KSC he made his first appearances for the second team in the Regionalliga Süd in 2009 . In his third game, the midfielder scored his first goal. In the 2009/10 season Rupp was regularly used for KSC II and was therefore recommended for the extended squad of the first team. He made his professional debut on March 21, 2010 in a second division game at Rot-Weiß Oberhausen . In the preliminary round of the 2010/11 season , Rupp developed into a fixture in midfield, was in the starting line-up in 14 of a total of 24 appearances and scored three goals.

For the 2011/12 season he moved with defender Matthias Zimmermann to Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach . During the winter break, Rupp was loaned to the second division club SC Paderborn 07 until the end of the season and returned to the 2012/13 season. Rupp decided not to extend the contract that expired at the end of the 2013/14 season . At the beginning of the 2014/15 season , he moved to the newly promoted Bundesliga SC Paderborn 07 for two years. On November 22, 2014 (12th matchday), he succeeded in a 2-2 draw in the home game against Borussia Dortmund with the goal to make it 1-2 in the meantime his first Bundesliga goal in the 60th minute.

For the 2015/16 season , Rupp moved to VfB Stuttgart on a free transfer , where he scored five goals and six assists in 29 games.

After VfB Stuttgart's relegation, he moved to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim for the 2016/17 season . Rupp played 51 competitive games for the first team in the Bundesliga as well as in the DFB and European Cup, but was never able to earn a regular place.

In January 2020, the midfielder signed a contract with the English first division club Norwich City , which will run until 2022 , where he will meet six compatriots and German head coach Daniel Farke .
