Steven John Pressley (born October 11, 1973 in Elgin , Scotland ) is a former Scottish football player and current coach .

Player career

Pressley grew up in Dalgety Bay and last played in the neighboring town at BC Inverkeithing in his youth , before he got his first professional contract with the Glasgow Rangers in 1990 . In 1994 he moved to Coventry City in England for £ 600,000 , where he was unable to gain a foothold due to a serious injury and returned to Dundee United in Scotland a year later . In 1998 he switched to Heart of Midlothian , where Pressley finally made the breakthrough; he became the team captain and Scottish international . In January 2007, the experienced defender moved to Glasgow for Celtic and played there until 2008.

Coaching career

FC Falkirk

On February 11, 2010, the previous assistant coach Steven Pressley took over the post of head coach at the Scottish first division club FC Falkirk , but rose at the end of the season from the Scottish Premier League 2009/10 to the second division. In the 2010/11 and 2011/12 seasons he led his team to third place in the Scottish Football League First Division .

Coventry City

On March 8, 2013 Pressley was introduced as the new coach of the English third division club Coventry City .
