Meek Mill (born May 6, 1987 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania ; real name: Robert Rihmeek Williams ) is an American rapper .

In his youth , Meek Mill formed the crew The BloodHoundz with Mel-Luv, Dat Nigga Lil and Young Pooh . They recorded some mixtapes like Grimey , Thirsty , Starvin '& Hungry and Blood in, Blood Out . Williams later chose Meek Mill as a stage name. Meek Mill is currently under contract with the Maybach Music Group label of rapper Rick Ross .
In early 2010 Meek Mill had a first solo success with Make 'Em Say . He first entered the US singles charts at the end of 2011 on the whale single Ambition . His first own hit was six months later Amen together with rapper Drake , which reached number 5 on the R&B charts. In May 2012 his best-known release was released, his mixtape Dreamchasers 2 , which has been downloaded around 4 million times. Seven songs hit the R&B charts. In November 2012 his debut album Dreams & Nightmares was released . It rose to number 2 on the US album charts.
From 2014 to the end of 2016, Meek was in a relationship with rapper Nicki Minaj .
Meek was sentenced to two to four years in prison in November 2017 for violating his suspended sentence. His imprisonment was heavily criticized by the public. Several prominent rappers including Jay-Z and Rick Ross spoke out on the case and campaigned for its release. On April 24, 2018, Meek Mill was released on bail.
In 2020 he was seen in the film Twelve .
