Dorothea Röschmann

Dorothea Röschmann (born June 17, 1967 in Flensburg ) is a German opera singer ( soprano ).

Life

Dorothea Röschmann, who sang in the Bach choir of her hometown Flensburg at a very young age, studied singing in Hamburg, New York City, Tel Aviv and with Vera Rosza in London. Since 1986 she has worked as a song and concert singer at home and abroad. Her concert activities include working with the London Symphony Orchestra , the Vienna Philharmonic , the Berlin Philharmonic , the Concertgebouw Orchestra and the Munich Philharmonic .

The soprano achieved international renown in 1995 with her debut at the Salzburg Festival , when she sang Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro under the direction of Nikolaus Harnoncourt . Since then she has returned to the festival again and again to sing the major roles in her field, such as Ilia , Nanetta , Pamina , Vitellia and others.

At the Berlin State Opera , of which she was a member of the ensemble for many years, she achieved great success as Micaëla in Carmen , Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro , Zerlina and Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni , Pamina in the Magic Flute , Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte (on DVD available), Ännchen im Freischütz etc. She sang the role of Contessa from Mozart's opera Le nozze di Figaro for the first time in 2004 at the Ravenna Festival and then in 2006 in London and at the Salzburg Festival. Further appearances followed at the New York Metropolitan Opera and the Bavarian State Opera in Munich. Furthermore, she sang on the aforementioned stages including Zerlina, Susanna, Vitellia, Ännchen, Drusilla, Alminera, Micaëla, Marzelline, Anne and Rodelinda. Röschmann also made guest appearances on the opera stages of London and Brussels. In June 2011 in Paris she took on the role of Countess in Le nozze di Figaro . Other roles were the Feldmarschallin from the Rosenkavalier , Eva in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg and Elsa in Lohengrin .

Dorothea Röschmann is married to the actor Christoph Bantzer .
