Miguel Harth-Bedoya

Miguel Harth-Bedoya (* 1968 in Lima ) is a Peruvian conductor.

Harth-Bedoya attended the Curtis Institute of Music and earned a master's degree from the Juilliard School . He studied conducting with Otto-Werner Mueller , Seiji Ozawa and Gustav Meier in Tanglewood. In 2002 he won the Seaver / NEA Conductors Award . At the New York Philharmonic Orchestra he was assistant to Kurt Masur , later second conductor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra under Esa-Pekka Salonen (1998–2004). He has served as musical director with the Auckland Philharmonia in New Zealand, the Eugene Symphony Orchestra , the Lima Philharmonic Orchestra and the New York Youth Symphony at Carnegie Hall .

Harth-Beyode has appeared as a guest conductor with many well-known European orchestras. With the orchestra of the Juilliard School he went on a concert tour through Japan. In the 2013-14 season he performed with the Spanish National Orchestra and tenor Juan Diego Flórez in Oman and Spain, and with Renée Fleming he went on a concert tour through Scandinavia. In 2015 he directed the world premiere of Jennifer Higdon's first opera Cold Mountain at the Santa Fé Opera . He is also the founder and artistic director of the Caminos del Inka , an organization dedicated to the performance and promotion of works by South American composers.

With the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Yo-Yo Ma , Harth-Bedoya recorded the album Sounds of Silk Road Chicago , which was nominated for two Grammys in 2009. At Deutsche Grammophon , the Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla y León and the pianists Katia and Marielle Labèque created the album Nazareno with works by Osvaldo Golijov , Alberto Ginastera and Silvestre Revueltas . His contribution to the Caminos del Inka project was SUR with compositions by Enrique Soro Barriga , Esteban Benzecry , Adolfo Mejía and Claudio Rebagliati . He recorded the CD Take Six with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra , which contains works by its composers-in-residence Jennifer Higdon , Kevin Puts , Gabriela Lena Frank , Behzad Ranjbaran , Peter Boyer and John B. Hedges .
