Schoolboy Q
Schoolboy Q (born October 26, 1986 in Wiesbaden , Germany ; real name: Quincy Matthew Hanley ) is an American rapper .
Live and act
Schoolboy Q was born on a military base in Wiesbaden . His father worked in the US Army . After his parents separated, his mother first went to Texas with him . She chose her son's last name at random. Schoolboy Q later grew up in South Los Angeles . He attended Crenshaw High School . There he successfully played football . At first, his school performance was good, which is why his nickname or stage name Schoolboy came about (the second part Q is an abbreviation for Quincy). At the age of twelve he became a member of the gang52 Hoover Crips. He lost interest in schooling and dealt with oxycodone, among other things . In 2007 he was jailed for six months, serving half the sentence under house arrest .
In 2008 Schoolboy Q released his first mixtape ScHoolboy Turned Hustla , which contains autobiographical texts. He was then discovered as a rapper by Anthony Tiffith, head of the independent label Top Dawg Entertainment, to which Kendrick Lamar , Ab-Soul and Jay Rock are also under contract. They worked together in the following years and founded the hip-hop group Black Hippy in 2009 . In the same year, a second mixtape by Schoolboy Q appeared on Top Dawg. With his download albums Setbacks (2011) and Habits & Contradictions (2012) he was able to place on the Billboard 200 . His participation in the hit single White Walls from the debut album The Heist (2012) by hip-hop duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis brought him international attention and chart success . While Macklemore sang the intro and first verse, Schoolboy Q contributed the second verse. In 2014 his most successful album to date, Oxymoron, was released as a joint venture between Top Dawg and the major label Interscope Records . It reached number 1 on the Billboard charts.
