Joe Louis Walker
Joe Louis Walker (born December 25, 1949 in San Francisco , California ) is an American blues guitarist.
biography
Through his parents, Walker came into contact with the blues as a child. At 14, he started playing the guitar. At the age of 16 he decided to make a living from music.
Mike Bloomfield introduced Walker to the Bay Area blues scene . In the 1960s, he played with stars such as Steve Miller , Jimi Hendrix , Grateful Dead , Lightnin 'Hopkins , Magic Sam , Earl Hooker , Freddie King , John Lee Hooker , Muddy Waters , Fred McDowell and Lowell Fulson .
Burned out, Walker retired from the blues for ten years in 1975 and sang with the gospel quartet The Spiritual Corinthians , with whom he recorded the album God Will Provide in 1980 .
In 1985 he returned to the blues, but from then on the influence of gospel music was always felt. He founded the "Bosstalkers" in San Francisco. His highly acclaimed first album, Cold Is the Night , which was awarded the Prix Big Bill Broonzy , was released in 1986 and several followed.
Walker won numerous awards, including several Handy Awards .
