Sara Bareilles
Sara Beth Bareilles [ ˈsæɹə bəˈɹɛlɪs ] (born December 7, 1979 in Eureka , California ) is an American singer-songwriter and pianist . She made her breakthrough in the USA in 2007 with the single Love Song .
Life
Sara Bareilles grew up in Eureka and graduated from senior high school there in July 1998. She then studied at the University of California, Los Angeles , where she belonged to an a cappella group. After completing her communication studies degree in 2002, she performed in clubs and bars and released two demo albums in 2003, which mainly contained live tracks.
Bareilles released her first studio album Careful Confessions in January 2004, and in April 2005 she signed a contract with Epic Records . Bareilles toured with Marc Broussard , Aqualung and Mika as well as Paolo Nutini and Maroon 5 . In July 2007, Sara Bareilles released her second studio album Little Voice , which reached the top 10 on the US album charts. The musician achieved her worldwide breakthrough with the single Love Song . Love Song was nominated for "Song Of The Year" and "Best Female Pop Vocal Performance" at the 2008 Grammy Awards .
Her third studio album, Kaleidoscope Heart , was released on September 7, 2010. The single King of Anything was nominated at the 2010 Grammy Awards in the "Best Female Pop Vocal Performance" category. The album was released on February 11, 2011 in Germany.
Bareille's fourth studio album, The Blessed Unrest , was released on July 16, 2013 and earned the artist her fourth Grammy nomination for the "Album Of The Year" category at the 2013 Grammy Awards .
In October 2015, Bareilles published her book Sounds Like Me - My Life (so far) in a Song . In the same month, the musical Waitress , whose songs and texts were written by Bareilles, premiered at New York's American Repertory Theater (ART). On Broadway , it ran at the Brooks Atkinson Theater from April 24, 2016 to January 5, 2020 with 33 previews and 1,544 regular performances. It also ran successfully in London's West End from February 8, 2019 to March 14, 2020. Bareilles himself played Jenna in both productions for a few months each.
In 2018 Bareilles took on the role of Mary Magdalene in the NBC Live Musical "Jesus Christ Superstar - Live in Concert".
