Kacey Musgraves (born August 21, 1988 in Mineola , Texas ) is an American country musician and Grammy Award winner.

life and career

Kacey Musgraves first appeared on stage at the age of eight and then began to learn various instruments and write his own songs. She produced and released her first three albums independently between 2002 and 2007, but had little success with them. It was not until the Nashville Star talent competition that she opened the doors to the music business. First her songs were taken over by interpreters like Martina McBride and Miranda Lambert , then she got a record deal with Mercury Nashville in 2012 .

With their debut single Merry Go 'Round Musgraves had a successful debut in the country and the official single charts in the same year. She got a gold award for it and she was voted Country Single of the Year by Billboard . Their first major label album, Same Trailer Different Park , was able to enter the country charts and number two on the Billboard 200 and even place itself in Great Britain. She was then named New Artist of the Year at the CMA Awards . For the Grammy Awards 2014 , Kacey Musgraves received four nominations, including in the main category for Newcomer of the Year. It won two of the awards for Merry Go 'Round for Best Country Song and Same Trailer, Different Park for Best Country Album.

In March 2015, Musgraves released Biscuits, the first single from their second album Pageant Material . The song is a mid-tempo number and addresses the fact that people shouldn't always stick their noses into strange matters.

Her third studio album, Golden Hour , was released in 2018 and won all four Grammy categories for which she was nominated: Album of the Year and Best Country Album as well as Best Country Solo Performance and Best Country Song for the two single releases Butterflies and Space Cowboy . Precisely because of this year's enormous success, the music journalist Marrissa Moss described that Musgraves, like all female artists, had a difficult time in the airplay selection of US country radio stations for years. Anyone other than her would have long since given up investing in single promotion.
