The VidCon is a multi-genre video Convention and has been held since 2010 every year in Southern California instead. It was initiated by Hank and John Green ( vlogbrothers ) and is now the largest video convention in the world with over 30,000 participants.

2010

The first VidCon took place on July 10-11, 2010 at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles. The tickets were sold out in advance. Over 1400 guests attended the event.

2012

The third VidCon was held for the first time in 2012 at the Anaheim Convention Center. Since there was more space available on the new site, the number of visitors rose to 7,000 this year.

2013

YouTube announced in 2013 that it would be the main sponsor of VidCon for two years. In the same year, around 12,000 people attended VidCon. One month before the event, all tickets were sold out.

2014

In 2014, YouTube used the convention to announce new features on the video platform, including a donation function and the ability to upload videos at 60 fps.

2015

The sixth VidCon took place July 23-25, 2015 at the Anaheim Convention Center. This year, 19,500 people attended VidCon.

2016

The seventh VidCon took place again from June 23rd to 25th at the Anaheim Convention Center. The number of visitors amounted to 25,000.

2017

A worldwide expansion of VidCon is planned for the first time in 2017: VidCon Europe is to take place from April 8th to 9th in Amsterdam , VidCon Australia from September 9th to 10th in Melbourne . As usual, the main event is scheduled for the summer in California.
