Brett Young (2015)

Brett Young (born March 23, 1981 in Anaheim , California ) is an American country singer.

Career

Brett Young grew up in California and learned to play the guitar as a teenager. In high school, he helped with school services and did the musical design when the musical director couldn't be present. Mostly he was a successful baseball player during his school days , on the high school and college teams and was already under observation by the professional teams when an elbow injury ended his sports career.

Then he took Gavin DeGraw as a musical role model and began writing songs. His appearances expanded across California and in 2007 he recorded a first EP . Two more EPs followed in 2011 and 2013. By then he had made a name for himself in his home country, played in the most famous event halls and had opened with performances by musicians such as Colbie Caillat and Katy Perry .

Since his musical development was mainly towards country and country pop, he decided to go to Nashville in the mid-2010s . Another self-produced EP brought him a record deal with the Big Machine label and in February 2016 he released his first real EP there. It hit the official US charts straight away . The song Sleep Without You was particularly successful and made it into the top 50 of the single charts and number 3 on the country charts. The single was awarded gold . It took another year before his debut album Brett Young was finished and released. He reached number 18 in the album charts and number 2 among the country albums. The song In Case You Didn't Know became another chart hit and a top 10 hit in the country charts. It went platinum (equivalent to 1 million units sold).
