Colbie Marie Caillat (born May 28, 1985 in Malibu , California ) is an American singer-songwriter and Grammy award winner.

Career

Colbie Caillat became known through her MySpace page. Her song Bubbly has been played over ten million times on her site.

In October 2006, she had over 6,000 fans on MySpace and the American music magazine Rolling Stone named her one of the top female artists on MySpace. Ultimately, Caillat became the most successful artist without a record deal when the number of her MySpace fans grew to over 100,000. In the meantime, her site has been visited over 60 million times (as of April 2012) and her songs have been listened to over 113 million times.

Working with Mikal Blue and singer and songwriter Jason Reeves resulted in a few songs from their debut album Coco , released in 2007 , the title of which is based on their childhood nicknames. It made it into the top ten on the Billboard charts and enjoyed worldwide success. The song Bubbly was also a top ten hit in many countries and was in the charts in Switzerland and the USA for almost a whole year.

Caillat's second album Breakthrough was released in 2009 and debuted at number one in the US. It was able to build on the success of their first album and had another single hit with Fallin 'for You . Together with Jason Mraz , Caillat wrote and sang the song Lucky in the same year , which was also an international success. This duet won a Grammy in 2010 ; Caillat was also nominated for the album Breakthrough and for Breathe , a duet with Taylor Swift . Caillat had also previously co-produced Swift's album Fearless . On July 8, 2011, Caillat's third studio album, All of You , was released, whose pre- single I Do was released on February 7, 2011.

In the German-speaking countries, she gained greater prominence through her collaboration with the Schiller music project .

She participated in the album for the film Chronicles of the Underworld - City of Bones , where she sang the song When the Darkness Comes .
