Mikael Persson (born June 24, 1983 ) is a Swedish DJ and music producer from Skövde , who is known under the pseudonym Mike Perry and gained international fame in the summer of 2016 with his number one hit The Ocean . His style is made up of elements of tropical house and future bass music.

Career

Perry's beginnings lie in electro and progressive house , before turning to tropical house and future bass music in 2016.

Musicians like Stephan M became aware of him in 2007. The first smaller projects followed. In the following years, however, he concentrated more on the activities behind the mixer, until 2012 MYNC's "Cr2 Records" approached him and signed it. This was followed by his first official single release in June 2012 with the song Put Me Up . Here he was inspired by Nicky Romero's Toulouse , which makes it stylistically a part of the dirty Dutch . On September 9, 2012, the sequel We Don't Sleep In The Night was released , which was recorded together with Cecilia Axeland. He also used progressive elements for the first time. In October 2012, together with Kastenholt & Dee, the Big Room Track Train , produced in the course of ADE 2012 , followed . In addition to "Cr2 Records", Perry was also active on Laidback Luke's "Mixmash Records".

Between 2013 and 2014 he produced a number of remixes together with the also Swedish DJ Filip Jenven. With their mix for Icona Pops All Night they were still moving in the big room style , which was very popular at the time , while their remix for Carry You Home was designed by Zara Larsson in the high-energy progressive house.

After playing the song The Ocean at a few gigs, Sony Music Entertainment signed Perry. The song was sung by the Swedish singer Shy Martin and produced together with the Swedish DJ and producer duo Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman , who have accompanied him in the studio since then. The release took place on April 15, 2016 and the track became a streaming hit on Spotify . In June 2016, the song rose to number one on the Swedish charts and stayed at the top for six weeks. At the end of the month, The Ocean reached the German-language charts and climbed into the top 10 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

In October 2016, Mike Perry's second single, Inside The Lines, was released in collaboration with the singer Casso , which entered the Swedish charts at number 41. At the same time, the song Touching You Again , which was recorded together with Hot Shade and Jane XØ, also appeared. With Hot Shade he also recorded the single Talk About It , which was released on March 3, 2017 and hit the Swedish charts a week later.

On April 21, 2017 he released the song Body to Body in collaboration with singer Imani Williams . The single achieved gold status in his home country. The follow-up single Hands , which was created in collaboration with the British boy group The Vamps and the singer and actress Sabrina Carpenter , experienced a similar experience . The song Stay Young sold 40 thousand times in Sweden. With the song California , which he released together with Hot Shade on May 1, 2018, he recorded another placement in the singles charts.

The song Changes was released on April 12, 2019. Here his co-producer team around Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman was given as an official feature for the first time. In addition, the DJ duo Ten Times and the group The Companions participated in the single. In late August 2019, he released another single with Ten Times and Hot Shade. This was a cover version of the song All Star by the band Smash Mouth from 1999. The producer WhoisFiyah also worked on the song. On September 27, 2019 he released the single One Life , with which he ventured back into the field of progressive house for the first time in years.
