The Amsterdam Dance Event ( ADE ) is a combined music festival and conference with a focus on electronic dance music that has been held in Amsterdam , the Netherlands , since 1996 . This annual event offers a day and night program. During the day it is a platform for the electronic music industry to exchange information. The day's program consists of various conferences, lectures, workshops and demonstrations by the most important players from the world of electronic music. At night the Amsterdam Dance Event takes place in clubs and other entertainment venues with well-known DJs and musicians from home and abroad. The ADE is organized by the Dutch music collecting society BUMA .

The event is organized by the "Amsterdam Dance Event Foundation" and offers a full program of daytime conferences in addition to a nightly music festival with more than 300 events in over 50 clubs in Amsterdam.

history

The history of ADE began in 1996 as a three-day conference. It was attended by 300 delegates and 30 active DJs, and initially took place at De Balie , a theater and center for politics, culture and media in Amsterdam. The nightly events took place in three locations, Paradiso (Amsterdam) , Melkweg and Club Escape. The event started on Wednesday with “ADE Pro” and “ADE University”, the Music & Bits conference program, as well as the “DJ Cook-Off”, for which DJ and producer Seth Troxler from Kalamazoo in Michigan could also be won over. In addition to the event, the ADE also includes the award ceremony for the “Top 100 DJs”.

2011

The 2011 event took place with over 700 DJs and acts in 52 different clubs in Amsterdam. In addition to the 130,000 visitors, the festival was also attended by around 3,000 music professionals. The "DJ Mag Top 100" award for 1st place was also presented during the Amsterdam Dance Event. This went to the DJ David Guetta .

2012

The event took place with 1700 artists and DJs over 5 days (October 17-21) in 75 clubs and other venues. It had 200,000 visitors. ADE Playground took place for the first time. This is a "playground" for active music lovers with music showcases, DJ workshops, theater and film performances or in-store performances. The "DJ Mag Top 100" award for 1st place was also presented during the Amsterdam Dance Event. This was won by the DJ Armin van Buuren .

2013

The 18th event took place with 2,156 national and international artists and DJs as well as 300 individual events over 5 days (October 16-20) in 80 clubs and other venues. It had 300,000 attendees and 5,000 conference attendees. Lt. fazmag 300,000 visitors, 90 locations all over Amsterdam, 400 parties, 25th birthday of dance and club culture. The official 2013 ADE Festival magazine. During the DJMag Top 100 Show, the “ DJ Mag Top 100 ” survey was announced on Saturday. Hardwell was the DJ who got 1st prize. The winner was presented by Giorgio Moroder .

Inspirational and influential speakers at the sold-out conference were: Nile Rodgers (US), Duncan Stutterheim (ID&T, NL), Giorgio Moroder (US), Bob Lefsetz (US), Armin van Buuren (NL), Richie Hawtin (CA), Kyle Hopkins (Microsoft / Xbox, US), Tiësto (NL), Nate Auerbach (Tumblr, US) and many more. The “ADE Green” forum was new, a successful joint initiative by ID & T and ADE. “ADE Playground” combines “electronic music lifestyle” with a unique range of film, art and pop-up events as well as programs from the world's leading software and hardware brands. Official facts: 300,000 festival visitors, 5,000 conference visitors, 5,500 playground visitors, 115 clubs & venues, 300 events, 2,156 artists, 460 journalists & media representatives, 317 speakers, 75 nations. This year ADE was marked by "25 years of dance music in the Netherlands". For this purpose, several initiatives such as the presentation of the book Mary Go Wild, club events, indoor and outdoor exhibitions and many lectures and film screenings took place.

2014

The 19th ADE will take place in Amsterdam from October 15th to 19th.

program

The ADE Pro day program takes place around the " Felix Meritis " and the "Dylan Hotel", both on the Keizersgracht . The “Music & Bits / Start-Up” zone in “De Balie”. "ADE-Universität", a program for budding experts from the music industry, takes place in Leidseplein . The festival includes the Hard Dance Event (HDE) in Melkweg with the harder styles of electronic music . ADE also opens its doors to non-professional musicians at “ADE Next”, where budding artists and producers are invited to meet face-to-face with some of the world's most popular and sought-after artists, DJs and producers for opinions and suggestions to get their work. The latest initiative of the event is the "ADE Playground" launched in 2011 as a showcase for new technologies. Since 2012 it has presented unexpected events, surprises during the daytime performances. For example from top DJs, special product lines, film screenings or discounts in shops and bars. In 2012 it was officially announced that the ADE would be extended from a four-day event to five days on Sunday due to the rapidly growing number of "night" events. The nightly line-ups feature over 2,000 DJs and artists as well as a selection of upcoming local and international talent, with a total of more than 300,000 clubbers. The most famous DJs who have performed at ADE include Armin van Buuren (NL), David Guetta (FR), Chuckie (NL), Laidback Luke (NL), Fatboy Slim (GB), Richie Hawtin (CA), Afrojack ( NL), Paul van Dyk (DE), Junkie XL (NL) and Chase & Status (GB).
