Junkie XL

Junkie XL (born December 8, 1967 in Lichtenvoorde ; actually Tom Holkenborg ), also JXL , is a Dutch DJ and music producer. It can be assigned to Progressive House and partly also to Big Beat .

Career

After his first musical steps with the band Weekend at Waikiki, Tom Holkenborg went into business for himself in 1995 and began to publish his own tracks in 1997 under the name Junkie XL. Since then he has worked with numerous artists on the electronic music scene, including Sander Kleinenberg , Dave Gahan , Tiësto and Syntax .

He became known to a wide audience in 2002 with the remix of Elvis Presley's A Little Less Conversation , which was created for an advertising campaign for the sporting goods manufacturer Nike for the 2002 World Cup. With this single he reached number 1 in the charts in Great Britain and Switzerland and the top 10 in Austria and Germany . This was the first remix of an Elvis song released with the consent of the Elvis heirs. However, they also insisted that it be published under the abbreviation JXL in order not to allow any unpleasant allusions to Elvis' past.

Since 2010 and working on the film Megamind , he has been part of Hans Zimmer's Remote Control Productions .
