action

The player takes on the role of the alien Cryptosporidium 137, a member of the Furons race. The furon are threatened with extinction because they have been exposed to nuclear radiation in the course of protracted wars with nuclear weapons and have lost their ability to reproduce. Since the inhabitants of the planet Earth carry furon DNA in them due to an incident in the distant past, the furons see a possible solution to their problem in human DNA. Cryptosporidium 137's brother, Cryptosporidium 136, was shot down while collecting human DNA at Roswell . The player's mission is to collect human DNA in the form of Cryptosporidium 137 and to find his brother. Destroy All Humans! takes place in the USA in the late 1950s and parodies their lifestyle, pop culture and politics.

Game principle and technology

The player moves his character through an open, three-dimensional world. With the help of his arsenal of weapons he can kill people moving in the game world and extract their DNA as well as wreak havoc on the game world itself. As the game progresses, the opposing people become more powerful, but Cryptosporidium 137 can gradually fall back on improved armament thanks to its mother ship, which is constantly in contact with it.

Production notes

The name of the protagonist is borrowed from a genus of unicellular parasites, the cryptosporidia .

After THQ's bankruptcy and subsequent break-up, the rights to the series went to the Swedish publisher Nordic Games after an auction on April 15, 2013, along with 150 other titles for a total of 4.9 million US dollars .
