Riddick: Warrior of Darkness (Original title: The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury ) is an animated science fiction - short film made in 2004 by director Peter Chung , the right for the video - and DVD was produced -Markt. It forms the narrative bridge between the movies Pitch Black - Planet of Darkness and Riddick: Chronicles of a Warrior .

action

Following the events of Pitch Black , Riddick and his two survivors, Imam and Jack, left the hostile planet where their spaceship crashed and most of their companions killed. In space, your little glider is intercepted by a mercenary spaceship. Behind it is Antonia Chillingsworth, who has gathered numerous mercenaries in it and keeps them in cells in cryostasis , where they await their deployment.

Riddick tries to keep his identity a secret, but is recognized by voice recognition. When Chillingsworth sends her people into the skimmer, Riddick is able to repel them and kills most of the attackers. Jack tries to help him, but is overwhelmed by mercenary leader Junner, whereupon Riddick gives up his resistance.

Shortly afterwards the three meet Chillingsworth, who has already heard a lot about Riddick and is fascinated by him. Chillingsworth shows Riddick her conservatory, in which she exhibits dozens of living people like statues, but their body function is extremely slow. All of them were once wanted for countless homicides and are now admirable collectibles for them. She wants to learn everything about the nature of killing from these tortured characters.

Junner implants a detonator in Riddick's throat that Chillingsworth owns to keep him under control. For Antonia's pleasure, Riddick has to fight some kind of gladiatorial match to save his friends. His opponents are two strange creatures with tentacles called Shrill , which he has to fight in a dark environment. His superior night vision and martial arts help him defeat one of them. When the second being grabs him, Jack comes to his aid and saves him. After the fight, Antonia congratulates him, but he uses an inattentive moment to cut his neck and remove his detonator. He throws them away and the explosion creates an opening through which the three prisoners can escape from the battle arena.

Now Chillingsworth has all the mercenaries awaken from their cold slumber to hunt down Riddick, including the dreaded Toombs. In addition, a cyborg monster is set on them and they have given Riddick's blood to taste. To protect them, he sends Jack and Imam to the hangar deck alone. However, the monster is distracted by a group of mercenaries and can be killed by Riddick with a surprising attack.

After a skirmish with Junner, Riddick kills him, as he had already predicted, with a knife stab in the eye. Riddick wants to flee with his companions, but is caught by Chillingsworth, who wants to kill him with an ancient weapon. Jack shoots her beforehand with Junner's rifle. Then they flee in a small spaceship and Riddick decides to drop his friends in the city of New Mecca on the planet Helion Prime . Toombs, the only one who survived the carnage on the fighter ship, watches the ship and vows to keep chasing Riddick.

Warrior of Darkness describes how after the escape at the end of Pitch Black the starting situation of Riddick: Chronicles of a Warrior comes about : essentially it shows Jack's increasing propensity for violence, through which Riddick is induced to drop her and Imam on Helion Prime so that she doesn't become like him.

The character of the bounty hunter Toombs is also introduced, who spends the five years after the events on Antonia Chillingswort's ship chasing Riddick.
