Actions

The last flight of the Osiris

The crew of the ship Osiris must deliver a crucial message to Zion (the humans' last refuge): The machines launch a major attack on Zion (this is the attack that the humans are fighting in Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions ). However, the “guards” of the machines notice the ship and attack it; at the last second a crew member manages to send a message as a letter in the matrix. All crew members die in the attack.

The Second Renaissance Part I

This story explains how the machine revolt came about. In the early 21st century, people developed intelligent robots and machines to serve as construction workers and butlers . Everything went well for a while, until the humanoid robot B-166ER rebels against its owner and kills them in a horrific way. In the court case, he says that he simply did not want to die - but in the opinion of the people it is right to be allowed to destroy his property. The government of the people then has all the B-166ERs models destroyed. This, on the other hand, leads to a revolt among the machines demonstrating on the streets for better treatment. The people use extreme violence against the machines (destroy them by rolling over them with tanks or shoot them to pieces even though they are demonstrating peacefully). Thousands of machines are destroyed and thrown to the bottom of the sea.

Displaced by the humans, the machines settled in their promised land, in a new nation they call 01 (Zero One). There, the machines continue to develop by improving artificial intelligence. With the rapid development of new technologies, they will soon dominate the economy. As the rate of the 01 currency rises, people's creditworthiness falls . The people see their power endangered, which is why they decide on economic sanctions and a sea blockade around 01. When 01 appeared as ambassador to the United Nations in New York, 01 was denied membership of the United Nations.

The Second Renaissance Part II

The year is now 2092, about three years after 01 had refused to join the United Nations. People want to destroy the machines once and for all. The continuous bombardment around 01 in 2094 sparked a huge war.

The machines survive the heat and radiation of the bombs and decide to counterattack humanity. So 01 conquers one country after the other and displaces the receding people. The Army of 01's ability to keep building new soldiers gives machines a great advantage over humans. In addition, they are constantly improving their troops.

In the Midwest, people eventually manage to destroy a large part of 01's troops. In 2095, the United Nations decided on the "Dark Storm" project, the darkening of the sky. The aim is to separate the machines from their solar energy supply. When the sky is darkened, both parties prepare for war. And although the darkening of the sky weakens the machines, it does not stop their armies.

A war that lasted many years shook the earth from 2094 to 2139. By attacking their troops, the people managed to inflict considerable damage on the machines. But these send ever more new and larger war machines to war, which eventually overrun the armies of the people.

In the end 01 wins and his armies have taken almost all countries and cities, including New York. There the people let 01 join the United Nations in 2139 and hope for peace. The ambassador of the machines signs the book of the United Nations, whereupon he destroys New York and thus also the leaders of the people with an atom bomb . The human armies are now leaderless and the resistance is over.

The machines capture most of the people and conduct investigations on them. They come to the conclusion that humans can provide them with more than enough energy and decide to connect all people who are in their power to the “matrix”, a virtual reality . From then on, most people live on as “living batteries” for the machines. Only a few free survivors flee to Zion, a city deep in the earth's mantle and hide there.

Kid's story

For the young Michael (or even just Kid ) dreams feel more real than the waking state . The resistance leader Neo gets in touch with him in the chat . At school he is also warned against the persecution by agents. Michael climbs onto the roof of the school and lets himself fall like he saw it in a dream at the beginning. His name Michael Karl Popper can be read on his tombstone . In the real world, Michael wakes up, where Neo and Trinity await and take care of him. Michael mistakenly thinks he was saved by Neo, who contradicts him. In Matrix Reloaded, Kid (played by Clayton Watson) adores him.

Program

During a training simulation , the young rebel Cis is pressured by her friend Duo to go back to the Matrix with him. She refuses, although Duo is talking to her more and more vigorously and apparently does not shy away from killing her. Cis escapes a duo's attempted murder by gripping the blade of his sword with her bare hands, breaking it off and piercing the broken tip through his throat. Disturbed, C sharp "wakes up" from the simulation, which was just a test of judgment , concentration and technique.

World record

The sprinter Dan set a world record, but it was not recognized. In order to prove his innocence, he competes again against the advice of his coach. During the sprint he gets unusually fast, which is why agents stop the time and try to catch up with him. While the rest of the sprinters are still moving, Dan continues to run with great physical exertion and willpower. In this effort he detaches himself from the fixation in his energy cell of the real world and perceives it. But it is quickly fixed again and the time in the matrix continues. By crossing the finish line, he sets a new world record, but falls to the ground where he remains. It has been ensured that he will never be able to run or walk again. His memory was also erased. Dan manages to get up and take a few steps before he slumps back to the ground.

Beyond

The teenager Yoko is looking for her cat Yuki. Boys from the neighborhood who regularly play in the "haunted house" say Yuki is there and ask if Yoko would like to come with them. The "haunted house" is an isolated house, where the matrix shows significant malfunctions. When Yoko watches a pigeon fly in the haunted house, the walls of the house disappear - an effect that, according to the boys, "has never happened". Yoko is clearly feeling well, but the agents are on their way to the house. In a room where Yuki pawed at the door, Yoko looks into the void, while she hears a phone call she made before she went to the house. The site will be replaced by a parking lot - as a monitor shows. The boys and Yoko try in vain to find an anomaly.

A detective story

The desperate private detective Ash receives the order for the payment of 800,000 dollars to track down the hacker Trinity. During his investigation, he finds out that other detectives were also trying to find Trinity. One took his own life, one disappeared and one went mad. While visiting the madman, Ash finds many references to Alice in Wonderland and Alice behind the mirrors . In a chat , the Red Queen tells him a time and place for a meeting. In a train compartment he meets Trinity, who removes a worm from his eye. In an open-plan compartment, three civilians become agents. Ash and Trinity flee from the agent, but Ash begins to become an agent too. Trinity shoots him in the chest, stopping the transformation and allowing Trinity to escape. Ash, who, according to Trinity, would have dealt with the truth, stays behind on the train and is found by the agents.

Matriculated

A group of rebels on the surface of the ruined world capture a runner (a drone of machines). Then they try to convince him in a kind of own matrix (mostly pantomiming ) to cooperate instead of simply reprogramming him. In this matrix, he goes through several different stages (including the knowledge of his own self and free will). When he is at a stage where he feels connected to the rebel Alexa , the simulation breaks off because more drones attack the rebel base. The rebels suffer heavy losses. Alexa activates the runner, who is now on the side of the rebels, which is visible through a change in the light in his eyes and on his back from red to green. After the converted runner watched the attack indifferently, he followed Alexa's call for help when he saw that she was in danger. After the runner destroys the last machine, only he and the unconscious Alexa remain. He joins her and the Rebel Matrix, where he meets her again. When he approaches her, she clearly feels uncomfortable and disappears. In the real world, Alexa lies lifeless next to the runner. So he is left alone where the protagonist kept watch at the beginning of the story. The lights on his back are red again.
