Life

For the first time with acting came Kevin Michael Richardson in the early 1980s, when he for the program Arts '82 Foundation National Foundation for the Arts was selected as one of eight participants. As a result, he was not only allowed to appear on a PBS- produced spot by John Houseman , he also received a scholarship to Syracuse University . After graduating with a bachelor's degree in drama in 1998 , Richardson worked in the theater for a few years, sometimes doing up to 8 shows a week, before moving to Los Angeles in 1991 and found that his agency, CESD, also had a voice-over department. He was surprised that you could make money with dubbing and really wanted to work with it, so he asked his agency to refer him to such auditions. But despite the concerns of his agents, who made him understand the difficulties of the business at the time, Richardson got his first job with his first casting.

For the animated series The Batman , he was cast as the first African American voice actor for the role of Joker . In doing so, he took over the part from Mark Hamill , who previously spoke this over and over again for almost 20 years.

Since 2008, Richardson has spoken in the original cartoon series The Cleveland Show as the two characters Cleveland Brown Jr. and Lester Krinklesac, as well as US President Barack Obama in the second season . In order to get to the high voice range of Cleveland Brown Jr., Richardson prepares himself by singing particularly high songs like Special Lady from The Moments .
