Kim Possible is an 87-episode animated series by the Walt Disney Company from 2002 to 2007. The series was originally supposed to end with the 65th episode, but was then given a fourth season with a further 22 episodes due to its popularity.
action
Kim Possible is about a girl of the same name who, together with her friends Ron Stoppable and Wade Load, saves the world from villains of all kinds. Wade invented the Kimmunicator, which provides important information about her villains and serves as a communication device between Kim and Wade. Ron is always accompanied by a halfway speaking naked mole rat named Rufus .
Your greatest enemies are Dr. Drakken and his accomplice Shego .
Kim Possible , her friends, most of the villains and her family live in and around Middleton , one of three districts of "Tri-City", a fictional large city in the USA.
The series is presented in a child-friendly manner, but has most of the fans among older adolescents and adults. This is mainly due to the successful language joke and the parody of common clichés from action and agent films.
main characters
Kimberly Ann Possible
Kim , who is estimated to be 15 to 16 at the beginning of the series, is the cheerleader who cheers for Middleton High School's football team , the Mad Dogs . At first she wears a purple-red-yellow cheerleading uniform without sleeves during training, later a long-sleeved white, purple-yellow one. When she's not in school or sitting at the Bueno Nacho with Ron , she saves the world with the help of her special equipment, which she receives from the computer genius Wade Load . She has orange-red, long and pointed hair that, seen from her, falls slightly diagonally over her green eyes on the left. Kim initially wears gray-green cargo pants and a black, cropped top. Later this oufit is of a lilac T-shirt and a black flared trousers replaced. In the last episode of season 3, a super suit expands your work wardrobe. The white suit with a bright blue pattern was developed by Wade Load, has the ability to repair itself in addition to a protective screen, can be partially deformed (Kim transforms the suit hand in episode 65 into a Cesta Punta bat, with which she catches Shego's plasma bullets and hurls them back) and serves as a muscle strength amplifier. In addition, Kim can make himself invisible with the help of the suit. In the fourth season, the suit is used several times. Kim's “secret weapon” with friends is her pout, which she uses to persuade people to do things they don't really feel like doing.
Throughout the three seasons, Kim falls in love with several guys, but no relationship lasts that long, if it happens at all. The first kiss (only on the cheek) from Ron and Kim can be seen in episode 37 Christmas with the Possibles . In episode 43, A Date with Obstacles , she also gets a kiss on the mouth from Josh at the end. In episode 53 mood swings , Kim accidentally gets a chip that controls her emotions. As a result, she believes, among other things, to be in love with Ron, and kisses him. The two also seem to feel more for each other than just friendship. In the finale of the same season (episode 63-65 The Hephaestus Project ), Ron and Kim have their first real date at the prom and their first real kiss; From episode 66 the two are together.
Her name (and that of all her close relatives known by their first names) is an allusion to the English word impossible , which means "impossible". However, the last name alone means "possible", which is reflected in the family motto: "Anything is possible for a possible!" ("Everything is possible for a possible"). In a similar context, this word can also be found in the series and film title Mission: Impossible , to which this name is possibly also an allusion.
Frequently Kim Possible uses the phrases: "What's next?" (English. What's the sitch? And "No big deal!") (Engl. No big! Or) So not the drama! , to which the English film title So the Drama refers. Sometimes she also says “That is not true now, is it?” (Eng. You're kidding !? ).
Another running gag are Kim's understatements when someone thanks her for a rescue operation. She always replies that everyone would have done it in her place and that it wasn't all that difficult. Since she has so many allies around the world thanks to her help, getting to one place by plane or helicopter is no problem for either of them.
Ron Stoppable
Ronald "Ron" Stoppable is a clumsy blond boy. He usually walks around school in a red sweater, and for rescue operations he wears a long, matt black sweater and dark gray trousers, which he loses on the most inopportune opportunities. His pet Rufus , a naked mole rat , usually sits in one of his pockets, usually in his trouser pocket. He chose a naked mole rat as a pet because his father suffers from an allergy to animal hair. Ron's hair is mostly tousled at the front and he has brown eyes. Ron is also afraid of monkeys and "small" insects. His favorite place is the local branch of Bueno Nacho , a fast- food chain specializing in Mexican dishes . He is also a wrestling fan. He is, according to the names of Drakken , Shego and other villains, the "little helper", which does not do him justice in some episodes, because sometimes he is in top form and shows true heroic qualities. In the original, however, it is referred to as a sidekick , which has a slightly different meaning. In episode 66, Ron joins the Middleton High School football team, replacing Brick Flagg, the former quarterback ; Although Ron cheated on the recording with Kim's combat suit, when he made the decisive touchdown in his second game without a suit , Mr. Barkin added him to the team. Other episodes of the last season also show what Ron is made of. This culminates in the fact that in episode 87 he uses his mystical monkey powers to destroy the aliens' fighting machines and destroy them in a huge explosion with their spaceship. Until then, however, he always suffers from fear of the future, including in relation to his relationship with Kim.
Before he and Kim become a couple, Ron and Sita fall in love at first sight at the box office. Later, Sita broke up with him. During a student exchange at the Japanese ninja school, he fell in love with the attractive Yori, with whom he later met a few times. This is why Kim is jealous of Yori for a while. In episode 35 "Mission Between the Times", Kim realizes that she cannot save the world without Ron. Every now and then she affectionately calls him “cute” or “rabbit” (sometimes he also calls him).
Ron's common phrase is “Booyah!”. He masters Tai Shing Pek Kwar because in episode 13 "A Monkey Circus" he gets caught between the four jade monkeys. He gets the mystical monkey powers that Monkey Fist also has and that allow him to control the lotus sword. In the episode "Bad Ron", Ron develops an evil ego called "Zorpox, the Conqueror" and suddenly becomes (instead of Drakken) the opponent of Kim. That happens when Dr. Drakken wants to repel his good energy with the help of Jack Hench 's "ruffianator" in order to have only bad energy. He is disturbed, and the ruffian transfers all evil energy to Ron. With the help of the "good" Dr. Drakken can Kim Ron and Dr. Turn Drakken back (and Drakken back into his evil ego).
Ron's surname “Stoppable” means “haltable” in German , which refers to his behavior, which is sometimes a hindrance to “saving the world”. In conjunction with the first name, spoken but also non-stoppable or unstoppable can be derived, which means "unstoppable". Ron's family is of Jewish faith , which is only relevant in a few episodes. In one of them, the rabbi 's lack of signature on Ron's bar mitzvah document triggers self-doubt, which he tries to compensate for by exaggerated portrayals of masculinity. In another he mentions that he signed up for kosher food in the school cafeteria . His parents adopt the Asian baby Hana in season 4. It takes Ron a while to accept his new sister. At first he calls her “intruder” but soon develops brotherly feelings.
Rufus
Ron's constant companion is a naked mole rat who - in moderation - can speak and lives in Ron's pocket. Despite its small size, it is an important part of Team Possible . With his strong teeth and his ability to infiltrate tech, he has often been the last resort for Kim and Ron. In addition, he and Ron accidentally got caught between the mystical monkeys of "Tai Shing Pek Kwar". His favorite dish are nachos with cheese sauce. It was bought by Ron at Smarty Mart. Ron chose a naked mole rat because his father has an allergy to animal hair and did not allow animals with fur.
Calf load
Wade is a ten-year-old genius who graduated from high school and college in just eight months. He's wired (almost) the whole world to his network and is the administrator of Kim Possible's website. His network provides him with information about the plans of Kim's opponents. He also makes most of Kim's equipment and organizes the rides to get Kim and Ron to their locations. Wade has black hair and is quite stout. Most of the time it only appears on Kim's "Kimmunikator" (a kind of PDA ) or as a hologram. In the first three seasons he almost never leaves his room and, with the exception of one other episode, only appears as an image or hologram . In episode 69 The Cupid Effect, however, Wade not only plays a leading role, but is practically out of his room for the entire episode. In the same episode, he also falls in love with Kim's best friend Monique. In further episodes of the fourth season he also takes part in missions. In the new episodes, he is not in his room, as in practically all of the old ones, but often in person with Kim and Ron on a mission. He also appears actively as an adult in the episode “Mission Between Times: Future”. Together with Kim's brothers, he leads a resistance group and, like the two of them, thanks to modern technology, has a very sporty physique, unlike the rest of the world.
His name is a play on the English term wide load ("heavy transport") and alludes to the figure's corpulent body size.
Minor characters
Dr. James Timothy Possible
- He is Kim's father and works as a rocket scientist at the Middleton Missile Center. He often plays his daughter's adviser and gives verbal life lessons. He doesn't like it when Kim meets with boys, and finds her missions harmless in comparison (example: Mission between the Times: Future; “Well, at least she's just got lost in the time warp and doesn't mess with any boy the slope!"). He is the former classmate of Kim's archenemy Dr. Drakken (see episode 9 Late Vengeance ). He will subsequently be The Hephaestus Project - Part II by Dr. Drakken kidnaps because he wants to steal the Hephaestus project (cybertronic technology). His relatives are known to have a sister named June and her dumb son Lawrence "Larry" as a nephew. He also has a brother named Slim, who lives on a ranch in Montana and tries hard to be a cowboy. Slim's daughter Jocelyn "Joss" was a huge fan of Kim for a while and tried to copy her. Then she decided that Ron should be her new hero, even though she had trouble even remembering his name beforehand.
Dr. Ann Possible
- She is Kim's mother and works as a neurosurgeon in the hospital . When Kim needs advice, she often calls her mother. It is not uncommon for her mother to talk to her on the hands-free system while she is working in the operating room and Mrs. Possible's colleagues can overhear, which Kim often notices too late. Kim's mother has slightly lighter hair than Kim, blue eyes and mostly wears her doctor's coat. In the episode Mother's Day , Kim's mother takes on the role of helper instead of Ron. She also has the ability to "pout". Like Kim, she uses them to persuade others to do something.
Jim and Tim (othy) Possible
- The two twins are Kim's little brothers. They do all sorts of nonsense - preferably with things that belong to Kim - and are difficult to control. This puts them in danger again and again, and yet they were able to help Kim in episode 17 The Twin Factor. They are highly intelligent and build missiles, silicon phase interrupters and much more. They also speak a kind of secret language that only they themselves understand, such as:
- Jim: "Hick-a Bick-a Boo?" - Tim: "Boo-cha!"
- Her sister also calls them "Zwombies", which stands for "Twin Zombies ". (In the original English version, Tweebs for "twin dweebs", which translates as "twin dumbbells"). Like their mother, they have blue eyes. In the episode "Mission Between Times: Future", Kim meets her in the future together with Wade as adults in charge of a resistance group. They developed a special means of transport there and named it after Kim.
Monique
- Kim's best friend. She's not a member of Team Possible, but she helps Kim every now and then, for example in episode 49 Mission Between Times: The Present and Episode 51 Mission Between Times: Future . Monique likes wrestling and the Bueno Nacho and gets along very well with Ron. Kim and Monique met at Club Banana , a trendy fashion store in Middleton. Rufus has designed the new mission outfit for Kim with Monique, whereby Rufus has copied the outfit from the fashionisters.
Bonnie Rockwaller
- Kim's rival at the school and also a cheerleader. She is arrogant and selfish and has had problems with Kim since she joined the cheerleaders. In addition, she wants to become the cheerleading coach, as Kim "replaced" her very early on. She has an overprotective mother who she always calls "Pupsimausi" (which Bonnie deeply hates) and two older sisters: Connie and Lonnie . These occur in episode 54, A Sticky Affair . Last season, Señor Senior Junior fell in love with her.
Brick Flagg
- He was the quarterback and captain of the Mad Dogs for seven years . Brick corresponds to the football player cliché in every way : It's big, almost as wide and strong; but what he creates in muscle mass is missing in his head. He and Bonnie are together for a while now and then; They may not be a match, but Bonnie makes it her duty as a cheerleader to go out with an athlete.
Steve Barkin
- He's a teacher at Middleton High. He is tall, strong and has a brush haircut. This, as well as the way he expresses himself, shows that he was in the military . In episode 24 he can be seen in a flashback together with his troops in the jungle, but it does not reveal whether he really has combat experience. Apparently the conflict in which this scene takes place was inspired by the Vietnam War , but the town Barkin mentions before the flashback does not exist. Barkin is also the leader of a boy scout group. Its name is derived from the word "barking"; this word is used in English not only with dogs but also with people who scold loudly - and Mr. Barkin often does. Like Ron, he also works at Smarty Mart.
Josh Mankey
- He is the ultimate girl love. When the school ball approaches in episode 1 with a heavy crush , almost every girl asks him for a date for the school ball, but he rejects everyone except Kim, who doesn't even dare to ask him because she is afraid, also this one To suffer fate. But in the end she goes to the school ball with him.
Team Go
- This superhero team consists of Shego's four brothers; Shego used to be one of them. In English, the first syllable of the individual names is an allusion to a characteristic of the person: Hego, the blue-clad, super-strong but somewhat simple-minded leader of the team, is very masculine, Shego is the only female member and Mego, dressed in purple, is shrinking can be very self-centered. The red-clad twins, both called Wego because they never appear separately, have the ability to reproduce. While Shego has isolated himself, the four brothers live in the Go Tower in Go City. Now and then they help Kim, especially Hego.
Yori
- Ron got to know the attractive, intelligent and very friendly Japanese woman when he was participating in a student exchange; in his place the handsome Hirotaka went to Ron's class, which Kim and Monique fought over, although he actually preferred Bonnie. Unlike Rufus, Ron struggled with the ninja teachings, but Yori comforted and supported him. She always calls him "Stoppable-San" and always says goodbye to him with a kiss on the cheek. Later she stands by Kim and Ron on various missions or asks them for help. It seems like a long-distance relationship is developing between her and Ron, but she takes it easy when Ron and Kim become a couple. She later explains to Ron what his little sister's powers are all about.
Master Sensei
- Sensei is the director of the Japanese ninja school and is both Yori's and, at times, Ron's teacher. He knows a lot of Japanese wisdom and is very knowledgeable about the lotus sword as well as about "the Han" and the mystical monkey powers. Yori mostly acts on his behalf. It is very important to her that Sensei remains undamaged (see episode: The Sensei Monkey Chaos ). He can use his telepathic powers to send an astral projection of himself to Ron to ask for help or to give him important information. He is also able to create a bubble (whether this is an astral ability or a mental ability was not described in detail) around himself through which he can float.
Hana Stoppable
- Ron's parents adopt the Japanese baby without knowing that she has "ninja superpowers". In a legend she is referred to as "the Han". After Ron has finally befriended Hana and knows what a great future lies ahead of her, he promises to protect and help her. Through Hana, Kim and Ron manage to defeat Monkey Fist in a fight.
Felix
- He's in a wheelchair but he's an excellent basketball player. After Ron has made friends with him, he helps on one mission or another. His wheelchair can fly and is equipped with a laser and other highly technical stuff. He's also very clever.
Zita Flores
- She's one of Ron's friends, they met at the box office and it was like love at first sight. Zita is a pro gamer and the only one who could ever manage to defeat the "ghost master" in the medieval role-playing game "Everlot". Malcolm Lievios is also in love with her and is actually the ghost master by the way. Through Malcolm's father, Zita and Ron were accidentally transmitted to Everlot. She later broke up with Ron and became a couple with Felix.
Opponent
Dr. Drakken
- Actually Drew Theodore P. Lipsky is a mad scientist who - like all classic super villains - has plans to conquer the world. He tries to do this with the help of his assistant Shego, his red-clad helpers and some super weapons, but is not very successful. His trademarks are the light blue skin, the blue lab coat and a scar under the left eye. His assistant is a great help in the fight against Kim. Dr. Drakken is actually rather unsuitable to usurp world domination, but considers himself a genius, which Shego in episode 28 The Orientation Week also leads to the ironic question whether anyone has ever checked. Together with Shego (in the last episode it is implied that both feel a lot for each other, in stark contrast to the behavior of the two towards each other in all other episodes), Dr. Drakken is the archenemy of Kim and Ron and therefore takes on the role of the opponent in most episodes. He often steals the equipment to carry out his plans. When Shego asked why he, who describes himself as a great genius, doesn't even invent something himself, he replies that this is outsourcing . The bumbling and sometimes somewhat naive scientist surprises in episode 65 with a large-scale, complex plan not only to usurp world domination, but also to get rid of Kim at the same time; perhaps he is capable of more than it seems. Nevertheless, all of his plans to conquer the world fail in the fourth season, while his plan to save the earth succeeds in the series finale, with the result that he tries to do good in the future. Drakken uses constantly changing secret hiding spots that are regularly destroyed by Kim Possible's actions. His reaction when escaping is usually the following bellowed sentence in various smaller variations: "You may think you are particularly great, but you are not!" ("You think you are all that, but you are not")
Shego
- She is the vicious, sarcastic , moody and highly intelligent assistant to Dr. Drakken. The attractive young woman may only be a henchman (who is under contract with Drakken), but she is Kim's most dangerous opponent. Not only does she master at least as many fighting styles as Kim, but she is also able to create a kind of green plasma in her hands that further amplifies her powerful attacks. The plasma enables Shego to effortlessly cut through even the hardest materials. As a child, Shego and her brothers were struck by a rainbow comet while they were sitting together in their tree house, which gave all five superpowers, Shego the ability to generate plasma. Shego, who is trained to raise children, formed the “Team Go”, a team of superheroes, for a while with her brothers. But the more Shego fought against evil, the more it began to irritate her. Eventually she left the team and joined Dr. Drakken on. Shego has pale skin, green eyes, black lips and black, shiny hair. She almost always appears in a black and green suit that dates back to her time at Team Go. Since Dr. Drakken is a bit forgetful and clumsy every now and then, she is the real brain, which she also likes to show with her sarcastic remarks. Shego is actually the better villain, even if she lacks motivation at times. She is also the only one who has so far been able to successfully carry out a plan to conquer world domination at times (see Mission between the Times ). The last episode shows that she and Drakken feel a lot for each other, despite their constant mockery of him and his bossy demeanor towards her. It can be assumed that they will become a couple.
Duff Killigan
- A Scottish villain whose passion is unmistakably golf (he always carries a golf bag with him). Duff Killigan is rather small, but well built. You can tell that he's Scottish by the Gaelic rolling “R” and his kilt . He lives in a castle with a golf course. His goal is not world domination, but the transformation of the world into a gigantic golf course. Duff Killigan works with exploding golf balls and has his own performance music played by a bagpipe . He made his debut in episode 7 The Number One .
Monkey Fist
-
Lord Montgomery "Monty" Fiske is a world-famous researcher, the leading expert in all monkey questions and a master of Tai Shing Pek Kwars (monkey kung fu). Kim meets Fiske for the first time in episode 13 A Monkey Circus in Cambodia , where she helps him recover a jade monkey statue from an old monkey temple. Fiske himself stole it the following night, however, as he hopes to gain mystical monkey powers as soon as he has all the jade monkeys. This hope does not deceive him; In fact, the statues develop the desired effect and from now on Fiske only calls himself the "Affenfaust" or "Monkey Fist" (an anagram of his name in English ). However, Ron destroys the monkey statues and subsequently develops into Fiske's most important opponent.
Monkey Fist's plans are always about harnessing mystical (monkey) powers and artefacts: In episode 34 Mission Between Times , he suggests using the monkey figure Tempus Simia to travel through time. In episode 32 The Lotus Sword he takes the magical artifact of the same name. His goal is world domination. Last but not least, it should be mentioned that the hands and feet of Monkey Fist, thanks to radical gene mutations, correspond to those of a monkey, for which he - according to his own statements - has spent all his family fortune. DN-Esther, who has been in love with the Lord ever since, was responsible for making these modifications. Fiske's home base is his castle, which obviously remains. He feels threatened by Ron's little sister and therefore tries to get rid of "the Han", as he calls them.
Senor Senior Senior & Senor Senior Junior
- A father-and-son team. Señor Senior Sr., a businessman and multibillionaire, was inspired by a remark by Ron that her private island would make an excellent headquarters for supervillains. He strictly adheres to a supposed super villain code, which, among other things, prescribes manic laughter and megalomaniac plans. He is decisive, intelligent and, despite his age, a successful extreme athlete. His son, on the other hand, is vain, self-centered and little interested in a career as a villain. He often appears simple-minded, but has flashes of inspiration in some episodes. Both characters speak with a Spanish accent and live in Europe.
Camille Leon
- She is a supermodel who can change her shape (or appearance) in no time with the help of nanobots. She uses this ability to commit robberies and blame her competitors for it. Her name is a parody of the chameleon .
synchronization
In the first three seasons almost everything is translated, DNAmy becomes DN-Esther and Global Justice becomes Network for Global Justice (NGG). English names are retained in season 4.
The responsible dubbing company is Blackbird Music in Berlin. The dialogue books were written by Katrin Fröhlich , Marius Clarén and Simon Jäger . Dialogue directors were Katrin Fröhlich and Marius Clarén.

background
Charisma
In the United States , the series runs on the pay-TV transmitter Disney Channel . In the German-speaking area, the first broadcaster to broadcast the series was ORF , which had received the rights before a German broadcaster. In German pay-TV, the series had been shown in advance on the Disney Channel since February 22, 2003, and with Toon Disney's launch on November 10, 2004, it ran there too. ProSieben was the first German free TV broadcaster to show the first season. The remaining seasons were broadcast after the youth program was moved to Kabel Eins and later also on Super RTL .
The fourth season started on May 19, 2007 on Disney Channel. It is broadcast on free TV by Super RTL, ORF 1 and SF2.
Since July 2011, all episodes on Disney Channel have been broadcast in 16: 9 format.
Theme song
The title song Call Me, Beep Me , originally interpreted by Christina Milian , has been sung by different interpreters since it was broadcast on Super RTL - but in English , in contrast to the previous practice of translating the song from a Disney series into German. So at the beginning the Preluders were allowed to step into the microphone and in later broadcasts the Super-RTL own retort band banaroo . The episodes are now being broadcast on Super RTL with the original song by Christina Milian. In the other German-speaking countries, Switzerland and Austria , only the original version of the theme song by Christina Milian was broadcast. In the German Disney Channel the version of the Preluders is played in the first three seasons, in the fourth season the original version by Christina Milian. In the French version, the title song is sung by Priscilla Betti ("Mission Kim Possible").
Connection to Lilo & Stitch
Kim Possible shares a series universe with Lilo & Stitch . This becomes clear when in the Lilo & Stitch episode 48 Kim Possible, Please Come, Stitch is kidnapped by a mysterious flying ship and Pliiklii comes up with the idea to ask Kim Possible for help. It later emerges that Dr. Drakken is behind the kidnapping. Meanwhile, Jamba believes Rufus is one of his escaped experiments and tries to capture him.
Actual filming
In early 2018 it was announced that a real-life film about Kim Possible was planned, which will be broadcast on the Disney Channel in 2019 . The main roles Kim Possible and Ron Stoppable are played by Sadie Stanley and Sean Giambrone .
