Brian George (born July 1, 1952 in Jerusalem , Israel ) is an Israeli actor and dubbing actor , most of whom has appeared in US films and television series. He gained fame primarily in the role of the Pakistani restaurateur Babu Bhatt in Seinfeld and the father of Raj Koothrappali in The Big Bang Theory .

Life

Brian George was born on July 1, 1952, the youngest of four siblings in Jerusalem. His parents immigrated to Israel from India . His father was born in Iraq and raised in Mumbai , his mother in India. When George was one year old, the family emigrated to London . There George attended an all-boys school. In 1966 the family moved to Toronto , Canada and he attended public high school , followed by the University of Toronto , where he gained his first theater experience. He left university without a degree and started an unsuccessful theater company. He was then a member of the comedy group The Second City .
