Ground Control (alternative title: Flight 177 - Panic in the Tower , also: Collision Course - Panic in the Tower ) is an American disaster film from 1998 with Kiefer Sutherland in the leading role.

action

The Chicago air traffic controllers Jack Harris plaguing nightmares full of guilt because of a plane crash of Transair , in which all 174 passengers were killed. As a result, he gave up his job and instead designed software for air traffic controller games .

Five years later, his former colleague TC Bryant in Phoenix desperately asks him for a short-term assignment in the Tower at the turn of the year , as there is a shortage of staff. To make matters worse, a violent storm was predicted - and a power outage followed, the cause of which was actually due to an act of sabotage by a certain technician, namely John Quinn . This had already completely messed up the technology at other airports. So there's a lot of work waiting for the air traffic controllers in the tower on New Year's Eve.

His colleagues greet Jack with their most varied opinions, but he can quickly prove his true abilities. Unfortunately, the past does not let go of him - memories of the terrible catastrophe rise over and over again in his mind's eye. Could his lack of confidence cause another bad luck?

Reviews

“A film that concentrates entirely on the work of air traffic controllers, which does not allow any subplots and, by doing without cinema effects, demands an attentive and interested viewer. The technical preponderance of the action is compensated by the moving expressiveness of the main actor. "

"The predictable drama according to scheme F gets into a tailspin all too quickly."
