Bubble Boy (Alternate title: Bubble Boy - life behind plastic ) is an American film comedy by Blair Hayes from the year 2001 .
action
The 17-year-old Jimmy Livingston suffers from an immunodeficiency , which is why he has to spend his life in a room surrounded by a sterile plastic cover. His strongly religious mother controls his life.
As a child, Jimmy befriends his new neighbor, Chloe. One day Chloe says she 'll be getting married to Mark in Niagara Falls soon . Jimmy thinks the man is a complete idiot. Disappointed Jimmy throws Chloe out of the house and only later unwraps a present that suggests Chloe loves him. He decides to travel to Chloe in a large transparent plastic ball (or bubble) that continues to protect him, to prevent the wedding and to confess his affection to Chloe.
Jimmy expects a real odyssey - on the way to Niagara Falls he meets numerous people, including the biker gang led by Slim, a bus full of crazy cult members, freed freaks from a freak show and an Indian ice cream seller. In the end, despite all the adversities, he still appears on time and prevents the wedding.
It turns out that Jimmy's illness only lasted until he was four, but his mother kept it a secret in order to keep him under control.
