Batman: The Brave and the Bold ( English Batman: The Brave and the Bold ) is an American cartoon series based on The Brave and the Bold Comics. Unlike in the comics, Batman is the central hero of the series, who is mostly supported by other heroes and villains of the DC universe .

action

The episodes of the series send Batman and at least one other hero from the DC universe into battle against a villain or to uncover a crime. For each season, a villain is put in the spotlight and a longer storyline runs through the season up to the finale in the respective final episode. One such villain was Equinox in the first season, and the alien starfish Starro in the second. Each episode begins with a short scene in which Batman is already fighting a classic villain with another hero, followed by the opening credits for the episode. However, these scenarios usually have nothing to do with the plot of the actual episode.

The series' producers chose to focus on Batman with lesser-known DC heroes who also appeared in The Brave and the Bold comics in the 1970s , such as Green Arrow, Wildcat and Plastic Man. Bruce Wayne, Batman's alter ego, was also avoided appearing on the series, but can be seen in silhouette with Dick Grayson, Robin's alter ego, in The Color of Vengeance . Sometimes figures from literature or real people appear, such as B. Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, King Arthur and Merlin, or the Red Baron Freiherr Manfred von Richthofen.

During San Diego Comic Con 2010 it was announced that the series would end after its third season in order to return to a somewhat darker Batman series.
