A case for Batman (Original title: The New Adventures of Batman) is an American animated series from the 1970s, which is based on the cartoon character Batman by Bob Kane . It is based on the Batman real series of the 1960s , similar to The Enterprise for Spaceship Enterprise .

Previously, the production company Filmation had produced another cartoon series about the masked hero in 1968. It was initially broadcast as part of the program The Batman / Superman Hour , with half an hour being dedicated to each hero. In each episode, the newly produced Batman adventures were broadcast combined with episodes of the series Ein Job für Superman and The Adventures of Superboy that had previously been broadcast. The Batman half-hour consisted of two adventures each. One was a two-part two-part series lasting 6.5 minutes and the second adventure was completed in 6.5 minutes. For example, 34 new Batman adventures were broadcast within the 17 episodes of Batman / Superman Hour . As part of The Batman / Superman Hour , the Batman block was titled Batman with Robin the Boy Wonder . When repeating the series was then renamed The Adventures of Batman , so The New Adventures of Batman can be seen as a sequel. The series are very similar in terms of drawing and style.

A case for Batman was first broadcast in Germany in 1991 on ProSieben and later on Kabel Eins as part of the children's program Bim Bam Bino .

(Framework) plot

The series revolves around Batman and Robin as they fight crime in the fictional city of Gotham City, facing a number of super criminals. In contrast to all other adaptations, Batman and Robin in this series have a comrade named Bat-Mite at their side, a little bat. From time to time Batgirl is also involved in the action.

background

In the English original, Adam West and Burt Ward resumed their roles as Batman / Bruce Wayne and Robin / Dick Grayson, who they had previously played in the real-life series Batman . In addition, the costumes, vehicles (Batmobile, Batbot, etc.) and the bath cave visually correspond to those from the previous real series.

Parallel to this series by Filmation, Hanna-Barbera produced another animated series in the USA after a three-year break with the Super Friends season The All-New Super Friends Hour (1977/78), in which Batman and Robin appeared. Hanna-Barbera was able to secure the rights to the Batman opponents Riddler and Scarecrow, which is why they could not appear in A Case for Batman - in episode 10 (Ice Cold Criminals) , only the Riddler is mentioned when it is mentioned that he was arrested. Conversely, Hanna-Barbera had to forego appearances by the Joker . After the short-lived series A Case for Batman was discontinued , Adam West took over Super Friends: The Legendary Super Powers Show (1984/85) and The Super Powers Team: Galactic Guardian (1985/86 ) in the last two Super Friends seasons ) the synchronization of Batman.
