biography

Bert John Gervis Jr. was born in Los Angeles . He began studying at the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1964 and moved to UCLA the following year to study drama .

Together with Adam West , he was able to prevail in the audition against Lyle Wagoner and Peter Deyell for the roles as Batman and Robin for the television series Batman . He then put himself on a stage name with Burt Ward , Ward being the maiden name of his mother. It would become the most popular role in his career. He started making $ 350 a week, which grew to over $ 600 by the end. He also recorded a few songs with Frank Zappa , including Boy Wonder, I Love You and Orange Colored Sky . With the increased production costs and the associated losses, the television series was discontinued after 120 episodes in 1968.

While filming the Batman series, Ward was considered for the role of Benjamin Braddock for The Graduation . Instead, his role offers were sparse and he was hired in addition to short appearances as a voice actor in cartoon series only for B-movies and television films , where he rarely played a leading role.

Ward was married to Bonney Lindsey, daughter of composer Mort Lindsey , from 1965 to 1967 and has a daughter with her. He was then married to Kathy Kersh from 1967 to 1968. In 1985, Ward married model Mariana Torchia. Animal rights activist Tracy Posner has been his wife since 1989. The couple have a daughter who was born in 1991.
