action

Dr. Victor Fries, better known as Mr. Freeze, leads a peaceful existence in the eternal ice of the Arctic. He lives with two polar bears, takes care of the little Koonak who has lost his parents, and his wife Nora is still asleep in her freezer.
But the idyll comes to an abrupt end when a research team's submarine turns up in the very cave in which he has made his home. In doing so, they break his wife's glass tank. He gets mad and freezes the entire team with his cold cannon. However, his revenge cannot undo the disaster that has been caused. With Nora's cryogenic rigor broken, her disease is now progressing very rapidly and she needs an organ transplant as soon as possible to survive. Mr. Freeze is now doing everything possible to save his wife and sets off with her to Gotham City.

Once there, he first kidnaps his former colleague, the unscrupulous Dr. Gregory Belson. Since he is currently in acute financial difficulties, Freeze can persuade him to cooperate with the prospect of a previously undiscovered gold mine in the Arctic. Another problem is that Nora Fries has a very rare blood type and it is therefore extremely difficult to legally find a suitable donor organ. Barbara Gordon happens to be an ideal candidate, so Freeze kidnaps her from a college party she attended with Dick Grayson.
Batman and Robin now do everything in their power to save Barbara and thwart Mr. Freeze's plan, whatever it looks like. Their research leads them on the trail of the missing Dr. Belson. He recently sent his stockbroker a message on his answering machine that he had struck gold and that he still needs some time to clarify the ownership rights. The sound of a foghorn can clearly be heard in the background of this message. You truly discover Freeze's hideout, a disused oil rig just outside the three-mile zone off Gotham City.

In the meantime, Barbara has not remained idle on the oil rig. She tries to escape and meets Koonak, who has not noticed anything about Freeze's real plan. When Batman also shows up, a violent battle breaks out in the course of which the entire area goes up in flames. Freeze breaks his leg and Belson, who tried to escape by motorboat, is killed by a slab of concrete falling.
To save his wife, Freeze helps Batman by trying to contain the fire for as long as possible with the help of his cold cannon, even though the rising temperatures are more and more troubling for him. Batman, Robin and Barbara escape along with Nora and Koonak, while Mr. Freeze is thrown into the sea by a blast from an explosion. But with the last of his strength he can cling to his polar bears, which swim out to sea.

In a polar station, two men watch the news that says that thanks to the support of Wayne Enterprises, Nora Fries was successfully operated on and thus cured. Her husband Dr. Victor Fries is officially declared dead due to the oil rig fire.
The men do not notice Victor Fries, who is limping away through the snow with the two polar bears and with freezing tears of gratitude.

Reviews

“Animated sequel of the 'Batman' series, in which the two heroes act in a stenciled adventure. In order to make the straight-line developed story enjoyable for children too, we deliberately avoided any form of comic-like violence. "
