Michael E. Uslan (born June 2, 1951 in Cedar Grove , New Jersey ) is an American film producer, comic book and screenwriter, and professor of "Comic Book Folklore" at the University of Indiana.

Life and work

Uslan studied law at the Indiana University School of Law, Bloomington . Later, after his first attempts to gain a foothold as a screenwriter, he became a lecturer at his former alma mater, where he attracted the attention of various comic book publishers with a lecture on comic history.

As a result, Uslan wrote, among others, together with Ernie Chua , some comic stories for the publisher DC Comics , for which he wrote, among other things, on the traditional series Detective Comics and on Green Lantern / Green Arrow . His most famous figurative creation from this period was the modern pirate and Batman antagonist Captain Stingaree ("Captain Stingray").

In the late 1970s, Uslan established himself as a production attorney for such films as Apocalypse Now , Rocky II, and Like a Wild Bull in the film industry. Following thereto, he began a career as a film producer, for which he, among others, with the Independent Spirit Award of Garden Film Festival has been excellent and he has specialized mainly on comic adaptations in the course.
