The list of characters from the DC universe deals with well-known, fictional people and groups from the comic universe of the US comic publisher DC Comics .
Superhero
Abin Sur

Abin Sur's first appearance was in Showcase # 22 in 1959 .
He was an alien and a member of the Green Lantern Corps until he died after the crash of his spaceship from an attack by the Legion on Earth. Before that, however, he gave his Green Lantern ring to Hal Jordan and recruited him to the Green Lantern .
In the 2011 Green Lantern film , Abin Sur is portrayed by Temuera Morrison .
Alexei Luthor
Alexei Luthor is the equivalent of Lex Luthor on Earth-3 .
Earth-3 is a mirror universe in which the actual superheroes are the villains and the actual super villains are the heroes. Alexei Luthor is therefore a super hero . His archenemy is the criminal mirror image of Superman , who in this version is called Ultraman .
Amazing man
Amazing Man I.
Amazing Man was conceived by Roy Thomas in the 1980s as a tribute to Bill Everett's Golden Age character John "Amazing-Man" Aman . Amazing Man Will Everett first appeared in All-Star Squadron # 23 in 1983 .
The African American Will Everett gained by an accident at the 1936 Olympic Games the ability the features of any items that he touched to imitate.
Amazing Man II
Will Everett Junior developed the same capabilities as his grandfather and was a member of the Justice League of America (JLA) dt. And Justice League . He made his first appearance in 1994 Justice League of America # 86.
Amazing Man III
The third Amazing Man is Markus Clay . It operates out of New Orleans , Louisiana . He is Will Everett's other grandson and the cousin of Will Everett III. Markus was a member of the Justice Society of America (JSA) until he retired from it and planned to start his own team. It had its first appearance in 2000. It was created by author Geoff Johns and illustrator Dale Eaglesham .
Ambush bug
Ambush Bug wascreatedby writer Keith Giffen inthe early 1980s withthe intention of creating a character that is in part a parody of the superhero genre. Ambush Bug is one of the few superheroes tobreakthe fourth wall . He made his first appearance on DC Comics Presents # 52in 1982.
Irwin Schwab, an alien who is initially a rather annoying enemy of some superheroes, but later becomes one himself.
Andrew Bennett, I ... vampires
Andrew Bennett is a human who was turned into a vampire in 1591 . He also turned his love Mary Steward into a vampire. However, she has been corrupted by power and tries to usurp world domination with her cult, the Blood Red Moon . Bennet tries to make up for his mistake by fighting her.
He made his first appearance in House of Mystery # 290 in 1981 .
Andromeda
The superhero Andromeda , real name Laurel Gand , is a member of the legion of superheroes .
She was originally created as a replacement for Supergirl after the crisis , but is very different from her. Her first appearance was in Legion of Super-Heroes # 5 in 1990 .
Animal Man
Animal Man is the hero of the comic series of the same name, which appeared between 1988 and 1995. He made his first appearance in 1965 in Strange Adventures # 180.
Bernhard "Buddy" Baker became an Animal Man when he was near an exploding spaceship. This gave him the strength to borrow the skills of animals.
Buddy Baker is a member of the "forgotten heroes" .
Aquagirl
Aquagirl I
The first aquagirl was Lisa Morel . She had her first appearance in Adventure Comics (Vol.1) # 266 in 1959 .
She had the ability to breathe underwater and was telepathic. She made herself a costume identical to Aquaman's and became Aquagirl. However, her abilities only awakened when she was in danger and, overall, did not last. She has lost her powers permanently and could therefore no longer exercise her identity as an aquagirl.
Aquagirl II
The second aquagirl was Selena . In 1963 she had her first and so far last appearance in World's Finest (Vol.1) # 133. After her brief stint, she never appeared again.
Aquagirl III
The third Aquagirl was Tula . It had its first appearance in 1967 in Aquaman (Vol.1) # 33. In the story devised by Bob Haney , it was drawn by Nick Cardy .
Tula has the ability to breathe underwater, withstand the pressure in the deep sea, can swim 160 km / h and is superhumanly strong.
Tula was the first Aquagirl to stay longer in the DC Universe.
Aquagirl IV
The fourth aquagirl was Lorena . It had its first appearance in 2004 in Aquaman (Vol.4) # 15. In the story devised by Will Pfeifer , it was drawn by Patrick Gleason . Like its predecessors, it can breathe underwater and withstand the pressure of the deep sea.
Aqualad
Aqualad , real name Garth , first appeared in Adventure Comics # 269 in 1960 . In the story written by Robert Bernstein , Aqualad was drawn by Ramona Fradon .

Aquaman
Aquaman, real name Arthur Curry , is the son of Tom Curry and Atlanna , a resident of Atlantis .
Arrowette
Arrowette , real name Cissie King-Jones , made her first appearance in Impulse # 28 in 1997 .
She is the daughter of Bonnie King (aka Miss Arowette ) and Bernell Jones, who died of food poisoning . She is a gifted archer and was a member of Young Justice before she gave up her superhero existence.
She later won a gold medal in the Olympics .
arsenal
Arsenal , real name Roy William Harper Jr. , first appeared in More Fun Comics # 73 in 1941 .
Roy William Harper Jr. was raised by Indians, later taken in by Oliver Queen ( Green Arrow (I) ) and became his companion , Speedy . When he grew up, he created his own independent superhero identity with Arsenal .
Unlike his mentor, he is an expert on all types of firearms, not just bows and arrows. He has a young daughter named Lian whom he is raising alone. He is a founding member of the Teen Titans . He is currently active in his new identity as Red Arrow in the Justice League of America , the successor to the Justice Society of America .
There are three other DC characters named Arsenal . They appeared in front of the arsenal described above, but each only made brief appearances. The first alias Nicholas Galtry in Doom Patrol # 100 in 1965 , the second in Doom Patrol # 113 in 1967 , and the third in Adventure Comics # 485 in 1981 .

The newest Arsenal (Roy Harper) appeared in the Arrow series (2013-2016). Unlike the original, Roy Harper lived in the Glades in Star City and was poor. To protect Arrow, he pretends to be the latter and fakes his death.

The first atom was Albert "Al" Pratt . He made his first appearance in 1940 in All-American Comics . He was drawn by Ben Flinton in the story written by Bill O'Connor .
Al Pratt was a member of the JSA .
Atom II
The second atom was Raymond "Ray" Palmer . It made its first appearance in Showcase # 34 in 1961 . In the story written by Gardner Fox , he was drawn by Gil Kane .
Ray Palmer has the ability to change his height and mass at will. He serves as an advisor to the JLA .
He faked his own death and so temporarily disappeared from the comics. He returned only after the death of his successor Adam Cray .
Atom III
The third atom was Adam Cray . It first appeared in Suicide Squad (Vol.1) # 44 in 1990 and was created by John Ostrander . He had the same skills as his predecessor.
He was murdered, whereupon Ray Palmer ( Atom II ) - who was believed to be dead until then - returned.
Atom IV
The fourth atom is Ryan Choi . He made his first appearance in 2006 in Brave New World . It is based on the revision by Grant Morrison and is currently the new Atom in The All-New Atom comic book series written by Gail Simone . He too has the same skills as Ray Palmer ( Atom II ).
TV series (since 2014)
Atom alias Ray Palmer came / appears in the TV series Arrow (2014-2015), The Flash (2015-2016) and Legends of Tomorrow (since 2016). He is played by Brandon Routh . Ray Palmer was a wealthy businessman at Arrow and CEO of Palmer Technologies . Unlike Atom II , he has no superpowers, but uses a self-developed exo suit. While testing a new feature of his suit, he accidentally causes an explosion that shrinks him to miniature size. Unable to call for help, his friends suspect he is dead.
Atom smasher
Atom Smasher's real name is Albert Rohstein . He made his first appearance in 1983 under the name Nuklon in All-Star Squadron # 25.
Albert Rohstein is the godchild of Al Pratt ( Atom I). Albert Rohstein, possesses super strength and the ability to change its molecular structure.
He was a member of the Justice League of America . Its previous name is Nuklon .
A few years ago he and other heroes revived the Justice Society of America .
Azrael
Little did Jean-Paul Valley , a student in Gotham , know he came from a long dynasty of hit men for the Order of St. Dumas , a secret society. His training and conditioning began before he was even born.
Jean-Paul was conceived in a test tube, his genes mixed with those of animals, and he was brainwashed all his childhood. It was only when he was supposed to take on his father's role as Azrael that he learned of his destiny. He refused.
After Bane broke Batman 's spine, Azrael took Batman's place and defeated Bane . However, he got more and more violent over time and was eventually ready to murder a villain. In a duel with the recovered original Batman, he lost. Thereupon Jean-Paul left Gotham and assumed his identity again as Azrael .
He tries again and again to gain the respect and recognition of Batman . He is an important character in the multi-part "The Plague" and helps Batman and Robin to fight this danger. However, his methods are still sometimes old-fashioned and unconventional.
In this incarnation Azrael made his first appearance in Batman: Sword of Azrael # 1 in 1992 . Before that, however, there were already two DC characters named Azrael , and the character described here was followed by three more with that name.
Batgirl
Batman
Batman was invented by Bob Kane and Bill Finger and first appeared in Detective Comics # 27 in May 1939 . Its main area of application is the fictional city of Gotham.
Bat mouse
The Batmaus (original: Bat-Mite ) is an imp , similar to Superman's pest, Mr. Mxyzptlk . Batmaus first appeared in Detective Comics # 267 in 1959 .
He appears as a child-sized man in a badly fitting Batman costume with a lightning bolt instead of a bat symbol. He has almost infinite magical powers and comes from another dimension in which the DC heroes are revered.
This figure was also removed from the comics by Julius Schwartz . Its continued existence after the parallel earth crisis is unclear, but there was later a clash between Bat-Mite and Mr. Mxyzptlk , in the course of which almost all DC universes that existed and existed were destroyed.
In the comic series Superman / Batman , Batmaus reappears together with Mr. Mxyzptlk , and they continue their devilish games.
Batwoman
Batwoman is the female equivalent of Batman and is called Kathy Kane in real life and Barbara Gordon for a short time. Her first appearance had Batwoman 1956 in Detective Comics # 233rd It was created by Bob Kane and Sheldon Moldoff .
The character Kathy Kane did not survive the crisis with the secondary role as Batwoman . Kathy was killed by the League of Assassins and the Bronze Tiger .
In 2006, Kate Kane was introduced as the new Batwoman. The gay superhero first appeared in US 52 # 7.
With the television series Batwoman , the character received a live film adaptation in 2019.
Batzarro
Batzarro is a warped version of Batman , much like Bizarro is one of Superman . Batzarro didn't make his first appearance in the Batman comics, but his shadow first appeared in 2002 in Superman # 181. Batzarro made his first full appearance in 2005 in Superman / Batman # 20. It was created by Jeph Loeb .
B'dg
B'dg (pronounced “Badge”) made his first appearance in 2005 in Green Lantern (Vol.3) # 4. It was created by Geoff Johns .
B'dg is a humanoid squirrel from the planet H'lven and is in training with the Green Lantern Corps, where he is responsible for Sector 1014, which was previously the responsibility of Green Lantern Ch'p . It has a power ring and therefore has the same capabilities as almost every Green Lantern .
Beast boy
Beast Boy's real name is Garfield Mark "Gar" Logan. Beast Boy made his first appearance in 1965 in Doom Patrol (Vol.1) # 99.
Beast Boy is a green-skinned and green-haired shape shifter . The serum of the green monkey , which cured Gar's disease Sakutia , had side effects on his green skin, green hair and his special ability: he can take the form of any animal.
He was adopted by members of the Doom Patrol Elasti-Girl and Mento and joined the Titans West and later the New Teen Titans . At the time he named himself Changeling and developed a close friendship with his teammate Cyborg .
Beast Boy's joviality and positive attitude is usually just a facade: his birth parents are gone, his stepfather gone mad, and his mother and the Doom patrol dead, as are many of his other former team members.
Big Barda
Big Barda had her first appearance in 1971 in Mister Miracle (Vol.1) # 4. It was created and drawn by Jack Kirby .
Big Barda is the wife of Mr. Miracle . Both fled the planet Apokolips and joined the New Gods . Barda was a member of the Female Furies (dt: female furies) .
Big Barda's abilities are superhuman physical strength, endurance and agility. In addition, she is, in theory, immortal.
Big sir
Big Sir , real name Dufus P. Ratchet , had his first appearance in 1984 in The Flash (Vol.1) # 338 (also: Der Rote Blitz) .
Dufus has a misshapen brain gland that makes him grow to an incredible size but mentally lag behind. Later in his story he gets high-tech combat armor from Monitor . In his career he was manipulated by various super villains due to his handicap and harnessed for their purposes.
Black Alice
Black Alice , real name Lori Zechlin , is a superhero created by Gail Simone , Joe Prado and Ed Benes . She had her first appearance in 2005 in Birds of Prey # 76.
Lori found her mother, who had died of a drug overdose, in her pool as a teenager. At that time, she discovered that she could “borrow” the magical powers of others. In her panic, she almost went nuts and finally began her personal campaign of revenge against drug dealers.
Black Canary
Black Canary I.
Black Canary's real name is Dinah Drake . Dinah Drake first appeared in Flash Comics # 86in 1947. It was created by Robert Kaningher and Carmine Infantino .
Originally she was a crime fighter without super skills, but later received the canarium cry (for example, "canary cry"), which turns her voice into a sonic weapon .
The actually black-haired florist Doiane Drake wears a blonde wig as Black Canary to hide her secret identity. In the course of her crime fighting career , she became a member of the JSA . It was later stated that she was from Earth-2 and married Larry Lance . However, this died when he sacrificed himself to save her life. To be able to start over, Black Canary traveled from Earth-2 to Earth-1. Here she joined the Justice League of America .
Black Canary II
The second Black Canary , real name Diane Lance , is the daughter of the first Black Canary Dinah Drake and her husband Daniel Lance . She took on her mother's superhero identity. The second Black Canary made its first appearance in 1983 in Justice League of America # 219. It was also conceived by Robert Kanigher and Carmine Infantino .

The newest Black Canary (Dinah Laurel Lance) appeared in the Arrow series . She was a lawyer and joined the Arrow group after her sister Sara Lance died. She gets her scream through a "voice distorter" that sets her scream to a different frequency.
Black Condor

The first Black Condor was Richard Gray Jr. This Black Condor first appeared in 1940 in Crack Comics # 1. In the story written by Will Eisner , he was drawn by Lou Fine .
Richard Gray had the skills to fly. He inherited this ability from a breed of super-intelligent condors who raised him. Later in his story it turned out that he was only able to acquire this ability as a result of radiation from a radioactive meteor.
He was a member of the Freedom Fighters .
Black Condor II
The second Black Condor was Ryan Kendall . This Black Condor had its first appearance in 1992 in Black Condor # 1. In the story written by Brian Augustyn , he was drawn by Rags Morales .
Kendall had telekinesis , which he also used to fly. He also had limited emphatic abilities.
Like the first Black Condor, he was a member of the Freedom Fighters .
Black Condor II died in the Infinite Crisis fighting the Secret Society of Supervillains when he was killed by Sinestro .
Black Condor III
The third Black Condor is John Trujillo . He made his first appearance in Uncle Sam and the Freedom Fighters # 3. In the story written by Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray , it was drawn by Daniel Acuña .
So far, Trujillo has only been known to be able to fly, and to be supernaturally strong and fast.
Black Flash
The character Black Flash first appeared in Flash (Vol.2) # 138 in 1998 . It was created by Mark Millar , Pop Mhan and Christ Ivy .
Like Flash , Black Flash can run super fast and manipulate time and switch between worlds. He has a slightly zombie-like body and wears a black suit with a white circle on the chest with a red lightning bolt on it.
Black Flash fulfills the same role as Death (the DC comic version of the personification of death ), albeit limited only to people with super pace. He leads them back to the “Speedforce”, the source of their powers. He was spotted on the death of the second red lightning bolt Barry Allen during the parallel earth crisis .
Another incarnation of death is the Black Racer .
Black Racer
The Black Racer , in real life Willie Walker , is the equivalent of death in person to Death among the New Gods . The Black Racer first appeared in New Gods (Vol.1) # 3 in 1971 . It was created and drawn by Jack Kirby.
He moves through space on cosmically charged skis. It can "phase" (pass through solid objects), is (theoretically) immortal and can cause death by touch.
Blok
The silicon-based life form Blok comes from the planet Dyrad and is the last of its kind. Blok first appeared in 1978 in Superboy # 253.
He has the ability to absorb energy and thus temporarily enlarge his body. In addition, he has super strength and stamina.
From Tharok manipulated he joined the League of Super-Assassins at, and attacked the legion of superheroes , which he joins after he had shaken off by the manipulation Tharok.
Bloodwynd
The wizard Bloodwynd draws his powers from the spirits of the dead, whom he summons for this reason. He made his first appearance in 1992 Justice League Spectacular # 1.
He is the descendant of an African American slave owned by Jacob Whitney . The group of slaves that Bloodwynd was a part of created a magical blood gem that they used to kill Whitney . The stone was passed on from generation to generation until Bloodwynd received it. Nobody knew that the stone was the gateway to another dimension into which the demon Rott dragged Bloodwynd's victims . Bloodwynd himself falls victim to this same demon, and the Martian Manhunter is psychologically influenced by Rott to take on his form and is guided by him. Martian Manhunter joined the JLA in the form of this puppet . The vertigo was only noticed during the fight against Doomsday ( see: Superman's death ), in which Manhunter and Bloodwynd could be freed.
Bloodwynd later distanced himself more and more from his teammates until he finally resigned from the Justice League of America.
Blue Beetle
Blue Devil
Blue Devil is the special effects technician and stuntman Daniel Patrick "Dan" Cassidy . He made his first appearance in 1984 in Fury of Firestorm # 24. He wasdrawnby Paris Cullins in the story writtenby Dan Mishkin and Gary Cohn .
For the film Blue Devil , he constructed a costume for his role as a special effects technician, into which he built a reinforced exoskeleton and special effects. During a fight with a real demon, he was permanently connected to his costume and acquired magical abilities. At first Dan tried to regain his normal life, but eventually came to terms with his superhero existence. He joined the JLA .
The demon Neron offered Cassidy the chance to become a movie star at the cost of a friend's death. Cassidy betrayed Neron and died during the Hell on Earth saga. Following this storyline , he was reborn as a true blue demon. Blue Devil became a member of the Justice League of America again , until his second death from super villain Mist .
He recently had the abilities of superhuman strength and endurance, superhuman eyesight, hearing and healing powers. He was able to track down demons on earth and banish them to hell . He is also a highly trained athlete and martial artist.

Bouncing boy
Bouncing Boy aka Chuck Taine first appeared in Action Comics # 276 in 1961 . It was created by Jerry Siegel and Jim Mooney .
He is a member of the legion of superheroes and has the ability to inflate, bounce and bounce like an elastic ball. He acquired the ability when he accidentally drank a superplastic formula.
Bronze tiger
The superhero Bronze Tiger aka Ben Turner made his first appearance in 1974 in Dragon's Fists . In the story written by Dennis O'Neil and Jim Berry , he was drawn by Leo Duranona .

Manchester Black is an anti-hero who, unlike other superheroes, considers killing his enemies. Manchester Black first appeared in 2001 in Action Comics # 775. It was created by Joe Kelly and Doug Mahnke .
Little is known about Black's background . He speaks with a British-English accent and wears a Union Jack T-shirt. He was molested by his parents as a child.
He has strong telekinetic and telepathic powers.
Manchester Black appears in the fourth season of the series Supergirl . He is played by David Ajala .

Nightwing
After a dispute with Batman , the then Robin , Richard John "Dick" Grayson , gave up his Robin identity and became Nightwing (German: Nachtfalke) . Nightwing first appeared in Tales of the New Teen Titans # 44 in 1984 . The Nightwing identity was created by Marv Wolfman and George Pérez .
In contrast to Nightwing , Dick Grayson was introduced as a sidekick of Batman Robin in Detective Comics # 38 in 1940 and was staged by Batman inventor Bob Kane in collaboration with Bill Finger and Jerry Robinson . See also: Main article: Robin → Robin I - (Richard John "Dick" Grayson)
There are other DC characters who temporarily take the name Nightwing , such as Power Girl for a while
He is a founding member of the Teen Titans along with Aqualad , Kid Flash , Speedy and Donna Troy and was a member and leader of this group for years.
After the "death" of Batman he took on the role of the "Dark Knight".
Oracle
Barbara Gordon , daughter of Gotham's police chief and confidant of Batman , Jim Gordon , was the second and most famous Batgirl . She took on the identity of the computer specialist and information broker Oracle (German: "Oracle") after shehad to give up her career as a superhero, now paralyzed by a wheelchair-boundshot by Joker in the stomach, which irreparably damaged her spine . The second person to assume the identity of Green Arrow's companion Speedy is the teenage archer Mia Dearden . Mia had her first appearance in 2001 in Green Arrow (Vol.2) # 2. However , she had her first appearance as Speedy in 2005 in Green Arrow (Vol.2) # 44. It was created by Kevin Smith and Phil Hester .
Mia is a member of the Teen Titans and one of the few HIV- positive characters in comics. Like Green Arrow , it also has a selection of different trick and special arrows available. She is also a distinguished sword fighter.

The first character to be named Starfire was Leonid Kovar . He made his first appearance in 1968 in Teen Titans # 18. It was created by Len Wein and Marv Wolfman .
On his second appearance in 1982 in New Teen Titans # 18, he changed his name to Red Star , knowing that someone else ( Starfire II ) was now claiming the name.
Starfire II
The second character to take the name Starfire was a female champion of the alien race, the Sornaii . She made her first appearance on Starfire # 1 in 1976 . It was created by David Michelinie and Mike Vosburg .
Starfire III
The third person known by the name Starfire is the alien Koriand'r , also known by her terrestrial alias Kory Anders . Koriand'r first appeared in DC Comics Presents # 26 in 1980 . In the story written by Marv Wolfman , it was drawn by George Pérez . This starfire is now regarded as the main and best known bearer of the name starfire .
Koriand'r is a princess of the planet Tamaran , who was destroyed by her sister. She was a founding member of the New Teen Titans and is now a member of Cyborg's newly founded Teen Titans (Vol. 2) .
In the past she joined the Outsiders , whose leader Nightwing is a good friend of hers with whom she was romantically involved.
She also acts as a kind of combat instructor for the new Titans .
Like all members of her race, Starfire is direct and impetuous and always follows her emotions, which often makes her appear pushy and impulsive. Since nudity is an essential aspect of the culture on Tamaran, Koriand'r had initial difficulties adapting to the clothing customs on earth.
Starfire is able to fly, has super strength, increased resistance and can absorb solar energy and release it from your hands in the form of energy beams ("starbolts").
In the animated series Teen Titans , she is shown in a much younger teenage version.

Since Bizarro's “heroic deeds” were of a more destructive nature, he and a Bizarro-Lois moved to the planet Htrae (earth → English for “earth” read backwards, which indicates that everything is twisted here). All living beings on this planet were bizarro creations and looked like unsightly supermen and loise . Its only weakness is blue kryptonite . At first he seemed to have the normal abilities of a Kryptonian (just as the attempt to clone Superboy seemed to have worked at first), but then it turned out that he is a failed Superboy clone and that his powers are completely twisted too. Among other things, he had a cold look, a heat breath (instead of a heat look and ice breath). His alter ego was then also called Kent Clark (instead of Clark Kent like Superboy (I)).

As Bloodsport , he roams the streets of Metropolis , even injuring Superman with a kryptonite bullet before collapsing when confronted with his crippled brother.
