David Ajala (born May 21, 1986 in Hackney , London ) is a British actor . He gained fame primarily through his roles in the series Supergirl and Falling Water .

life and career

David Ajala was born in London to two actors. After graduating from high school, he learned acting at the Anna Scher Theater and received a scholarship to the Courtyard Theater Drama School . He gained his first acting experience as a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company . He played in productions of A Midsummer Night's Dream and Hamlet .

He took his first role in front of the camera in 2006 in the British independent film Streets of London - Kidulthood with a small appearance as Desmond . He also took on the role in the 2008 sequel Streets of London - Day of Retribution . Also in 2008 he played a small role in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight . He was then mainly seen in small films and appeared as a guest actor in the series Doctor Who , Silent Witness , Misfits , Death in Paradise and Black Mirror . In 2013 he played a small role in the action film Fast & Furious 6 .

In 2014 he starred as Will Van Renseller in the series Black Box in one of the leading roles. In 2015 he appeared as Ibis in Jupiter Ascending . In 2016 he took on a supporting role as Rate in the miniseries Beowulf . From 2016 he played the lead role of Burton in the US series Falling Water . The series ended in 2018 after two seasons. In 2018 he starred as Roy Eris in the short-lived series Nightflyers . Also in 2018, he took on a recurring role as Manchester Black in the series Supergirl .

In addition to his native London, he also has residences in New York and Los Angeles. Aside from working in front of the camera and on stage, Ajala occasionally lends his voice to characters from video games, for example in Mass Effect: Andromeda and Need for Speed ​​Payback .
