Need for Speed Payback is the 23rd part of the Need for Speed - racing game series. It was developed by Ghost Games and published worldwide by Electronic Arts for Windows , PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 10, 2017.
Gameplay
Need for Speed Payback's gameplay hardly differs from its predecessors. In the fictional Fortune Valley, the player can buy cars and equip them with tuning parts, which he either wins or buys. With these vehicles, the player can take part in various racing events in single and multiplayer .
In contrast to the previous part, Payback has three playable characters and also offers a 24-hour, day-night cycle.
development
In January 2016, Ghost Games began developing the next need-for-speed game. This was confirmed by a blog post on May 10, 2016 on needforspeed.com. On June 2, 2017, the reveal trailer was released.
The game uses the Frostbite 3 engine from Digital Illusions CE .
Events
The available racing events are available to each of the three characters.
- Abondonad - The player finds a hidden car and has to take it to a workshop
- Bait Crate - The player must find a hidden crate and must reach the vanishing point before time runs out without being arrested by the police
- Circuit - A race with several laps. Finish the last lap of the race in first position
- Courier - Reach all goals before time runs out
- Drag - Win the most laps on a track.
- Drift Trial - Reach the given score before crossing the finish line.
- Escape Point - Reach the destination point before time runs out
- Sprint - A race from A to B. Reach the finish line in first position
- Time Trial - Reach the finish line before time runs out

Reviews
Need for Speed Payback received mixed and average reviews.
IGN's Luke Reilly praised Electronic Arts for repairing problems with its predecessor, Need for Speed , but criticized the “scripted” story, the lack of police chases while driving, and unrealistic vehicle damage. PC World criticized the game for the severely limited adaptability of cars, game mechanics, lack of cockpit view and many other problems.
