Need for Speed: Porsche (in other countries also Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed or Need for Speed: Porsche 2000 ) is the fifth part of the racing game series Need for Speed and was published in 2000.

Gameplay

In contrast to its predecessors, only Porsche cars are available in this game . It contains a total of ninety cars from three different periods. The game places more emphasis on realistic drivability and is therefore significantly more simulation-heavy, while the arcade-like control of the predecessor has been reduced. An extensive damage model is used, but at the urging of the Porsche company, realistic and complete destruction of the cars was made impossible. As in the third part, the PC version again offers the opportunity to compete against each other in races online. The game can also be played in multiplayer mode over a network.

In addition to the so-called "fast race", in which the aim in various modes is to be the winner of a single race as possible, two career options form the heart of the game. While as a "works driver" you have to do various tasks such as slalom driving for a limited time, exact 360 ° drifts in defined areas or to finish a race without damaging the car, in "Evolution" mode the goal is as a racing driver with a small one Start-up capital to trace the entire development from the 1950s in the Porsche 356 to the year 2000, with the then new Porsche 911 Turbo (996) . Among other things, this goes hand in hand with buying new cars, tuning your own vehicles and repairing them after tournaments that have been prone to accidents. There is also the possibility of winning a racing car through extra races at the end of each period.
