The Lamborghini Aventador is a super sports car from the vehicle manufacturer Lamborghini , which was presented in March 2011 at the Geneva Motor Show as the successor to the Lamborghini Murciélago . Before delivery began, the waiting time was one year.
Naming
The name Aventador goes back to the fighting bull of the same name . The bull Aventador was honored as particularly brave in 1993. In addition, it was characterized by its low combat weight, which was just above the minimum weight.
technology
The self-supporting body ( monocoque ) of the Aventador was, like that of the Sesto Elemento study, largely made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (KFK). This is why the Aventador, at 1,575 kilograms, is 90 kilograms lighter than its predecessor Murciélago.
Like that of its predecessor, the engine is a longitudinally installed V12 mid-engine with 6.5 liters displacement. It delivers a maximum of 566 kW (770 hp) at 8500 rpm and has a maximum torque of 720 Nm at 6750 rpm. The power is transmitted to all four wheels. The power-to-weight ratio (dry) is lower than that of the Murciélago, it is 2.69 kg / kW (1.98 kg per PS). The Aventador consumes 19.6 l / 100 km, which corresponds to CO 2 emissions of 452 g / km.
Lamborghini installs a so-called “Independent Shift Rod” transmission from the manufacturer Oerlikon Graziano , which can be switched to both an automatic mode and a manual mode that can be operated using paddle shifters . With this newly developed transmission, gear changes can be completed in 50 milliseconds. In addition, the ISR transmission is only about half as heavy as a double clutch transmission and also requires significantly less space.
Lamborghini borrowed from racing for the chassis with suspensions on triangular arms of unequal length and for the monocoque. The upper wishbone actuates the horizontally installed spring-damper units via toggle levers . The advantage of this construction is the better response behavior and the lower unsprung mass . The monocoque, which weighs only 147.5 kg due to the use of carbon fibers , has a safety advantage above all, as the occupants are in a safe passenger cell in the event of an accident.
Furnishing
The Aventador has leather seats and a TFT screen embedded in the center console. It is not started with a key, but with a start button that is located under a red cover, similar to the fire button on a fighter jet. On the outside, the wedge shape, the cooling openings at the rear that extend out (at higher speeds) and the height-varying rear wing are particularly noticeable. The design is based on the Sesto Elemento concept car and the Lamborghini Reventón special model . Like its predecessor Murciélago, the Aventador also has scissor doors .
Series models
Aventador Roadster
The open version of the Aventador is technically based on the coupé. The top speed and acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h also agree with the data of the Coupé. The removable roof is no longer a fabric roof like its predecessor Murciélago, but consists of two separate KFK roof halves, each weighing 6 kilograms, which can be stowed in the trunk. Outwardly, apart from the removable roof, the newly designed engine cover is particularly striking. Overall, the weight of the roadster increases by around 50 kilograms due to the required greater rigidity of the floor assembly.
Special models
Aventador J.
The Aventador J presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 2012 is a one-off, technically based on the Aventador LP 700-4. A striking feature is the absence of a roof and a windshield, as well as a modified design on the front and rear aprons. The suffix "J" is supposed to remind of the Miura Jota . The rumored price is around 2 million euros.
Aventador LP720-4 50 ° Anniversario
Just in time for the 50th anniversary of the brand's foundation, Lamborghini presented the anniversary model based on the Aventador in April 2013 with the LP720-4 50 ° Anniversario . Especially for this special version, the engine has been increased by 14 kW to 529 kW (720 PS), the all-wheel drive is retained. The front and rear bumpers as well as the side skirts have been revised and stand out from the yellow body due to their matt black color. A limited production of 200 vehicles, 100 coupes and 100 roadsters is planned.
Aventador LP750-4 Superveloce
At the Geneva Motor Show in 2015, Lamborghini presented the Aventador LP750-4 Superveloce (SV) . The revised twelve-cylinder engine in the SV now delivers 750 hp, which at the time made it the most powerful Lamborghini in the company's history. The engine produces a torque of 690 Nm and accelerates the vehicle from 0 to 100 km / h in 2.8 seconds (0–200 km / h: 8.6 s; 0–300 km / h: 24 s). The specified maximum speed is over 350 km / h. Lamborghini redesigned the body based on knowledge of aerodynamics and reduced the curb weight of the vehicle compared to the regular Aventador by 50 kg to 1,525 kg. This results in a power-to-weight ratio of 2.03 kg / hp.
Aventador Miura Homage
On the 50th anniversary of the appearance of the Miura , Lamborghini presented a special Aventador model limited to 50 copies at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in June 2016 . To quote the Miura, the Aventador Miura Homage is only available in color combinations in which the Miura was also available. In addition, the wheel arches and the lower body area are gold-colored. Miura lettering adorns the sill. Technically, the 515 kW (700 PS) special model remains unchanged.
SC18 Alston
On November 16, 2018, the Lamborghini SC18 Alston, a unique piece based on the Aventador SVJ, was presented. The vehicle is the result of a cooperation between the in-house design studio Centro Stile and the Lamborghini motorsport department Squadra Corse, which has developed a road car for the first time with the SC18.
The naturally aspirated V12 engine with 566 kW (770 hp) at 8,500 rpm was adopted unchanged from the SVJ. The body, which is now completely made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic, has been completely renewed. The Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO racing car is the inspiration for the extreme design . The tailpipes of the newly developed exhaust are placed halfway up at the rear. The unique piece is painted in the color Grigio Daytona (dark gray) with red details, which is reminiscent of the conceptually similar Lamborghini Sesto Elemento .
Aventador S.
The Aventador S, which was presented in December 2016, is the successor to the Aventador LP700-4. Since the body and engine were redesigned, the downforce on the front axle was increased by 130 percent and the engine output increased by 40 hp to 740 hp. The suffix S has a long tradition at Lamborghini and can already be found in the Miura S , among others . The roadster variant was presented at the IAA in September 2017 in Frankfurt am Main. Delivery started in February 2018.
Aventador SVJ
As part of the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance , Lamborghini presented the Aventador SVJ (Supervelocé Jota) in August 2018 . With 566 kW (770 PS) it is the most powerful model in the Aventador series and is limited to 900 units. In addition, the SVJ has an aerodynamic concept called ALA 2.0 (Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva) which, through the automatic control of adjustable flaps in the front and rear spoiler, influences the air flow over the vehicle in such a way that the contact pressure varies according to the driving situation. For example, from a flap position that reduces the air resistance to achieve high speeds, the air can be diverted within a very short time by adjusting the flaps so that high contact pressure is generated, which in turn enables fast cornering.
In the summer of 2018, the Aventador SVJ achieved the fastest lap time to date for street-legal sports cars on the Nordschleife with 6: 44.97 minutes .
The Aventador SVJ Roadster was presented at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2019. It is limited to 800 copies.

Trivia
In April 2013, the police in the Emirate of Dubai announced that they would use an Aventador as an emergency vehicle in the future. The aim is to improve Dubai's image of luxury and prosperity and to show that the financial crisis of 2008 has been successfully overcome. It was not disclosed whether the police themselves paid for the vehicle or whether it was sponsorship from Lamborghini.
