The Lamborghini Sián is a street-legal super sports car from the Italian automaker Lamborghini . It is the manufacturer's first series-produced hybrid vehicle .

history

The Sián was presented as a coupé on September 3, 2019 with the addition of the name FKP 37 . The super sports car had its public premiere at the 68th International Motor Show 2019 in Frankfurt am Main . Based on the founding year 1963 by Lamborghini, the vehicle is limited to 63 copies and with 602 kW (819 PS) it is the manufacturer's most powerful production vehicle.

The word "Sián" comes from the Bolognese dialect and translates as "lightning". The suffix “FKP 37” stands for the initials and the year of birth of Ferdinand Karl Piëch , who died on August 25, 2019 and was Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG between 1993 and 2002 and then Chairman of the Supervisory Board until 2015 .

The roadster presented on July 8, 2020 is limited to 19 copies and does not have the FKP 37 suffix .

Vehicle characteristics

The Sián has a hybrid powertrain . This combines the 6.5-liter V12 gasoline engine from the Lamborghini Aventador with a 48-volt electric motor that is installed directly in the transmission. The combustion engine has 577 kW (785 hp) and the electric motor 25 kW (34 hp). Instead of an accumulator that stores the electrical energy, a super capacitor is used in the car . The super sports car is expected to accelerate to 100 km / h in under 2.8 seconds, and Lamborghini specifies a top speed of over 350 km / h.

The vehicle optically takes on elements of the Lamborghini Countach and the Lamborghini Terzo Millennio .
