The Lamborghini 400 GT was a coupe from the car manufacturer Lamborghini . Carrozzeria Touring built 273 copies of the car from 1965 to 1968 ; The Lamborghini Islero was the successor to the Lamborghini 400 GT . In 1967 Touring ended automobile production; the last examples of the Lamborghini 400 GT were completed at Marazzi .
Technical details
The body and technology of the car (five-speed gearbox, independent wheel suspension on triangular links of different lengths, also at the rear, disc brakes on all wheels) largely corresponded to the predecessor Lamborghini 350 GT , but the V12 engine with four overhead camshafts had been increased to 3929 cc and had 235 kW / 320 hp. The factory stated a top speed of 260 km / h.
Special models and prototypes
400 GTS
The 400 GTS was designed as one of the last touring cars in 1966. In principle it was the same car as the 350 GTS . Only the engine of the 400 GT was installed.
400 GT Flying Star II
The 400 GT Flying Star II was presented at the Turin Motor Show in 1966. It was based on the 400 GT 2 + 2. The Touring company built a station wagon coupé. The first owner of the single piece was the son of the writer Françoise Sagan . After being restored, the Flying Star II was presented at the Retromobile classic car fair in Paris in 1987. The vehicle is privately owned.
Monza 400
The Monza 400 was built by the body shop Neri e Bonacini in 1966. This company was also responsible for the chassis of the Lamborghini 350 GT and that of the Ferrari 250 GTO .
