The Lamborghini Asterion LPI 910-4 is a concept vehicle from the Italian car manufacturer Lamborghini and was presented at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. It is named after the Minotaur Asterion and thus follows Lamborghini's brand tradition of naming their vehicles after famous bulls. The Lamborghini Asterion is Lamborghini's first hybrid-powered vehicle.

Technical specifications

A V10 mid-engine with 449 kW is installed in the vehicle. In addition, there is a double motor with a lithium-ion battery on the front axle, which provides a combined output of 221 kW. The maximum speed of the car is 320 km / h, if the vehicle only runs electrically the maximum speed is 125 km / h. The fully electric range of the Gran Turismos is 50 km. The hybrid technology increases the vehicle weight by 250 kg.

Whereabouts

The concept vehicle was presented as a “technology demonstrator”. In an interview with Autocar magazine , Stephan Winkelmann , President and CEO of Lamborghini, said that the Lamborghini Asterion will not be produced in favor of the Lamborghini Urus . He justified this by stating that customers would only be interested in a hybrid vehicle if the hybrid technology was performance-enhancing. Before the decision was made not to produce the vehicle, the Lamborghini Asterion was seen as a potential competitor for other hybrid supercars such as the McLaren P1 and the Porsche 918 .
